try another hotel
I found hairs on my bed, the sheets were not even pulled up to the top of the bed, the windows were filthy. True, the rooms have been updated, but the staff and maintenance are genuinely poor. Ceske Budejovice is now filled with small boutique hotels; I would definitely try one of them next time, and stay away from this refurbished Communist-era place.
Traveler's tip on dining
Ceske Budejovice is the home of Budweiser beer. The brewery offers tours, but the brewery also owns the Masny Krany, a reasonably priced restaurant/beer hall. Worth the visit!
