Not really a Castle
Although this place is called/billed as a "castle," it was actually a woman’s agricultural college for many decades and thus the insides look much more like an old dormitory than a real castle (maybe I should have guessed that from the "reasonable" price by current UK standards. The evening dinner was unimaginative, with limited choices, and overpriced. The service was mediocre, but that meant that they also forgot to charge me for my dinner, so I guess I shouldn’t complain!
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you want to stay in a more typical historical place, this isn’t it. Pick a "real" castle (and pay more) or a manor/bed-and-breakfast run by a traditional family. Unless you want to experience life an a 50-year old woman’s college dorm.
