Bad odor spoils a great hotel
The Movenpick is a stylish modern hotel inside of an unusual historic building located in the center of park. It is an easy walk to the convention center, university, shops and cafes. I had a room on the top floor with a lovely view. The window to the room was open wide when I checked in. Unfortunately, after shutting the window, the room began to smell like sewer gases. When air vents for drains are blocked, sewer gases cannot escape through the vents so the gases come back up through the drains(my husband is plumber). I identified the problem as the drain in the shower and placed a towel over the drain to cap the odor. It was late, my trip was only 2 nights and I didnt have the time for a room change. I left the window open and the towel over the drain. I told the hotel about the odor when I checked out, but I dont know if they understood. I would stay there again conditional that the room was odor free.
