The hotel Posta is located right in the historic centre of Reggio Emilia overlooking the Prampolini Square. The hotel Posta is housed in the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo , a Medieval building that has been a hotel for over five centuries. In 1200, it was the residence of the Capitano del Popolo , in 1400 the residence of Sigismondo d'Este; it became an inn called Locanda del Cappello Rosso in 1515.
