Nice little getaway
This is a hidden gem. Small hotel but well maintained. Friendly staff, easy to get to off the Interstate. Adequate parking, good vending in the hotel, even a porch with rocking chairs to sit out on. Right next to a good old-fashioned American diner serving great, real food. Close to activities like county fairgrounds, historical museum, and DeSoto Wildlife refuge. Big city is only half an hour away if thats what youre looking for. When you get back youll have a quiet, comfortable room to rest up in. TV had a good selection of channels, and (we visited in summer) the air conditioner kept the room nice and cool, but wouldnt keep you up all night with a noisy blower. All in all, we would recommend this for any weary traveler, or someone looking for a quiet getaway with a little local flavor.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Visit DeSoto Wildlife Refuge and see the museum showing the cargo salvaged from a steamer that sank in the Missouri river right after the Civil War. The Harrison county historical museum just east of town has a completely restored one room schoolhouse and other great exhibits.
