Always great

We stayed there now 4 or 5 times and have been happy every time. Great location between airport and downtown, the rooms are clean and the pool is very well maintained.

Bad Neighborhood

My wife was delayed so I didn’t have a car. No biggie, I walked to the hotel from the Convention Center. Just a couple miles. When I was 100 yards from the hotel, I was stopped by the police. Why??? It’s such a bad neighborhood that they stop everyone on the street. Apparently, the Motel 6 next door (on the other side from where I was accosted) is a hotbed of drugs and crime. Walking along the sidewalk, I was accused of casing the businesses for later crimes. The manager gave me a map with the wrong room marked. The keys didn’t fit the room (luckily... Who knows what I might have walked into, going into someone else’s room!) Loud music was played by the pool until 11PM The mattress had a very strange shape, peaked up in a center ridge yet scooped along the sides. It hurt my back and knees. The cleaning crew left a bucket and a brush in the shower one day, but they took it away the next. Just strange. Mostly, the room was clean. Nice stone shower though. If you go here, be sure to stay on the grounds or drive. Don’t venture out on foot.

Best value in Palm Springs

Charming and comfortable. The pool and grounds are beautiful and the tiki theme makes for a fun get-away. Best price for close in Palm Springs. Good restaurants within walking distance and they welcome well behaved pets with open arms!

A Good Hotel for the Price

We only stayed one night, but the staff at the front desk were very friendly, and the rooms were nice for the price.

For the price, this hotel was awesome! It was quaint and had a great pool/lounge area. The room was nice and we were able to have our pet stay with us. It is great if you are traveling with a pet.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

If you’re driving to this hotel, bring some BBQ tools, like a spatula and charcoal so you can have a BBQ in the lounge area.

Very comfortable and reasonable resort

The restaurant & bar are due open in Fall 2009, but I have stayed many times at Caliente Tropics. Great location, recent renovation of entire hotel. Pool is great for kids.

Affordable Hotel in Palm Springs

The place was kept clean at all times and the price was very affordable.The rooms were pretty cozy and comfortable. However, there wasn’t enough employees to service customer requests at all times. This was the only downside to it. Employees seemed to appear overwhelmed with their workload causing to negatively affect the hotel’s customer service.

Great for it’s price

This hotel must have been recently renovated cause it’s clean and neat. It has a Hawaiian theme which is delightful. Even though the hotel tries to cut the cost by not having many towels and condiments, our room was clean, the pool was clean (jacuzzi wasn’t as hot as I wanted), and most importantly the workers were down to earth.

Very relaxing and exotic!!

I had a great time to kick back and relax during my short stay. Very close to the shops and the pool is a must during summer!

Just what we needed. Even though we arrived very late at night the guy was very polite and nice. The rooms were clean and comfort. very recommended!

Great find

we were so happy to find this hotel and will return again. Hotel location and area was perfect. Rooms were comfy and big with a nice granite wall shower.

Great place to sray

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel and my only issue was the shower head in the king suite. It’s to high and I was unable to enjoy my shower.

Not impressed

It was okay, I called to check in early and they said it would be okay when I showed up they said my room was not ready, they told me that 3 times. I eventually checked in but at the normal check in time and it was 114 degrees. Not good

Internet?

The hotel room and grounds were beautiful! Granite bathroom counter tops and shower walls. Cushy overstuffed chairs, soft beds, and nicely decorated room. Great pool! Location was nice - not too far from the main areas of Palm Springs and such. However, the internet is a joke. Yes, technically they have free wireless internet, however, it’s so slow that I couldn’t get my email to load up. It was so slow, that is wasn’t worth having.

Last Minute Getaway

I booked this place the same day we were to arrive, and it was great. The room was nice and spacious, the separate seating area in the room is a huge plus...we had a mini fridge for water and drinks..coffee maker that we didn’t use but it was available. They cleaned our room towards the end of the day because we were in and out hanging by the pool, and they were super nice about it. They have a separate grass area to sit and read or just enjoy. We really enjoyed this place. Its nothing fancy but its comfortable. Family environment.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel many times, with and without the kids, and we love it. This is a very friendly hotel with very cool grounds. The pool stays open late and they light tiki torches at night. The jacuzzi is large and accomodates lots of people. There are always lots of chairs available for hanging out at the pool. It you are looking for a hotel to hang out by the pool to enjoy the sun of Palm Springs this is a very cool place to go.

Extremely improved

Greatest rate in Palm Springs and one of the coolest little motels in town. It has been heavily renovated and has completely dodged its former bad reputation. I love the Polynesian style, really felt like I was in Hawaii.

Enjoyed my stay

The hotel was clean. The staff was nice. Perfect place if you are traveling with an animal. Will definitely be going back.

Hmmmm...pink worms/caterpillars

The hotel was clean, comfy and very quiet. The only problem I had was that there was no window screen on the bathroom window. It was open a crack when we got there. I found a huge pink caterpillar on the bathroom floor, a dead one by the door and out neighbors found a worm and a roach in their room. I know that we are in the desert and bugs live among us, I am just glad we found them on our last day...I would not have been able to sleep there knowing they were in the room. Oh well.

the hotel isn’t a five star hotel but; for what you pay for you get a great place to stay

Do NOT stay on the first floor

If you are going to stay here, ask for a second floor room. I had a room on the first floor and I didnt sleep at all the first night I was there, because you hear every little squeak and sound coming from the room above you. Other than that, the room was...ok, at best. I would probably not stay there again.
