just okay...
we were not blown away by the goldene ente. the rooms were quite outdated. our bathroom had no shower head attachment, so you had to take a sitting bath every time. the TV didn’t work. no wireless. stuffy old furniture. on the plus side, the location is great and the reception very friendly. it’s an okay hotel. just don’t expect anything spectacular.

Wonderful Old-World Feel in Updated Building
We stayed in this hotel one night in July 2009 and were pleasantly surprised by the location - right off the main square in the old part of the city. It was an excellent starting point for all of the big sites we’d planned to see. We were also pleasantly surprised by the fact that this building had an elevator, something we had not encountered at many other places during our travels! The rooms had all been updated, but the character of the building was still evident throughout the hotel. The only drawback for us was that we had arrived in town during record-setting hot temperatures(97 degrees +)and there was not air-conditioning in the rooms. Being on the 4th floor of this older building made for an uncomfortable night, but the rest of the accomodations made for a wonderful stay. In addition, the hostesses were charming and welcoming, and very helpful during our visit.

Small, quiet hotel with perfect location
This hotel is in the ultimate location for oldtown Salzburg. We were just a few minutes walk from every major site in the old town. The restaurant below was also excellent with friendly service. The hotel itself is small, quiet and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I plan on returning to Salzburg soon and I will definitely book a room at this hotel. The rooms are a little small by American standards, but I spent very little time in the room, so I did not mind one bit.

The Getreidegasse (Salzburg’s famous shopping street) is only a 3 minute walk from this hotel.
