Convenient, inexpensive stay in Central Madrid
Room Mate Alicia is small, modern, clean, and convenient to museums, restaurants, etc. For those traveling by air, it’s about three blocks’ walk from the nearest Metro station, a line of which goes directly to the airport. We found our room surprisingly quiet despite being at the corner of the busy and beautiful Plaza Santa Ana. We definitely recommend this hotel especially to singles and couples, and to Culture Vultures.
The adjacent restaurant was perfect for an early bite of breakfast from their generous buffet, and served good basic tapas and wines in the evenings.

Lovely stay in Madrid
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mate Alicia. The location was perfect -- right on the Plaza Santa Ana, where there is plenty of nightlife. But the room itself was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The style of the hotel is very modern, slightly hipster, but not cold or unfriendly. In fact, the hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. The only thing that may put off some visitors is the shower stall, which is essentially in the bedroom. While it is glass, the "essential areas" are blacked out with panels. Still, it might be less than ideal for two people who are not comfortable with each other. The shower itself is very large, with great water pressure. The included buffet breakfast was great too. All in all, we felt we made a very good choice with this hotel and would stay there again.

Splendid hotel in great location
Modern style of hotel in an excellent location for sightseeing and the main Museums. Very comfortable with lots of bars and good restaurants nearby.
