WONDERFUL PARIS HOTEL
My wife and I stayed at Academie Hotel for 8 nights this September 2009 just a few days ago. We thoroughly enjoyed the room--we could see the life of the streets happening from our window. The maid service was efficient. But most of all I want to comment on the front desk personnel, especially the two young women who served us and the hotel there. Alas, I do not know their names. But the older of the two--I believe she was une française--was there every morning, the other was a Swiss and served mostly afternoons. Because I cannot walk well, we took several taxis and vans to explore Paris and Giverny. Each time the young women at the front desk made the perfect arrangements for us. They were pleasant, good-humored, efficient, knowledgeable. My wife and I cannot say enough to praise these employees of Academie. One final comment. We had a wonderful conversation with the man who, we were informed later, was the owner of the Academie. He was a tall Frenchman who recommended Bofinger for our one night out at a restaurant. He made a reservation for us and I never got a chance properly to thank him.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
ALL OVER PARIS THERE ARE MONOPRIX STORES, SELLING MOST EVERYTHING, ESP. FOOD. RATHER LIKE SUPERTARGET. PRICES ARE GOOD AND WE TOOK FOOD BACK TO OUR ROOM, STORED THE PERISHABLES IN OUR MINI-BAR, AND ATE WHEN WE WANTED--YOGURT, BREAD, PROSCIUTO, FRUIT, JUICE. IN THE ST. GERMAIN AREA.

Beautiful and Perfect Location
I visited Paris with my two children (ages 12 & 14). The hotel was perfect. I wanted to spend my vaction in an authentic hotel and not a generic hotel chain. The room was lovely. The breakfast was perfect. The location was amazing. 2 block walk from the River Seine and the Louvre. 1 block walk from the main Boulevard St. Germain by all the cafes, bus stops, taxis, train station, street vendors, pharmacy. Right in the middle of this beautiful city. Hotel staff were always very helpful and cheerful. I couldnt have asked for a better place to stay.
