Okay for a cheap stay

Its a nice place to stay but to call it a resort come on

This is the perfect place to stay. The location is perfect. You can walk to the Winn Dixie and alot of restaurants. Its also walking distance from a mini golf and some souvenir stops. Its off one of the main roads and really close to Disneyworld. If you are looking for a place that you are left alone and feels like home this is the place. Others said that they did not get enough towels or the beds were not comfy, but we had no problems. I would be happy to go back and visit again.

If you decide to rent a car and plan to travel to the beaches or the coast make sure to get a toll tag. They are only 29.95 and well worth the money. Also if you are looking to save money the kitchen is a big plus.

perfect place near most attractions

This place was by far the best place i have ever stayed at. there were three bedrooms and even a garage for the car. the washer/dryer came in handy too!!! It was literally 5-10 minutes from the disney parks. traffic was not that bad. i luved it!!! the only flaw was that there was only one tv in the place with no cable. the pool was big and clean even the game room was nice!! go there u will not be dissappointed

there is a backroad to get to the theme parks very convienent to avoid the traffic. i forgot the name of the road but it is on 192. we stayed on oakwater. after leaving there make a right onto 192 the first light to the left will take u to the disney area. there is a big wavy curve ahead but ur going the right way.

Good for the price

Good place to stay if you want something that feels like home in that it has a garage, 3 bedrooms, and 2 baths. It is more like a timeshare rather than a hotel. However, checkout procedures required you to put dishes in the dishwasher and run the dishwasher but detergent was not provided. You were to strip the bed and leave the dirty sheets in front of the washer but were also asked to leave a clean set of sheets per room (again no laundry soap provided). There were clean towels when we arrived but there were not hand towels or wash clothes. When I told the Florida Magic Vacations about all of this during checkout, they said everyone was stealing the wash clothes and hand towelso they no longer provided those and that you are to provide all of your own soap. Not sure why they collected an additional $25 fee from me when all they did was hand me a key. Overall the place is nice as long as you are prepared for prividing your own towels and soap for the trip.

Great Value!!

While these accomodations were clean, and the space more than adequate, a few amenities such as towels in the kitchen area and waste baskets in the bathrooms would have been appreciated. However, for space, convenience, quiet, comfort and value for the dollar, this place could not be beat.

Bring your own paper towel and kitchen equipment.

A comfortable place to stay.

The Sun Lake Condos are pleasant & spacious and great for the larger family. Compared to our 2008 stay the grounds were better maintained, but the unit we stayed in wasn’t as clean,basically the carpet needed a little shampooing, as we would have liked & there were inadequate kitchen utensils & pots & pans for the occassions we desired to cook. Also only one of the TV’s were operational. However, it is really a good value with easy access to the amusement areas & family restaurants.

Great location and price

We had a nice 2 bdrm/2 bth condo. The rooms were clean with really nice furniture. Spacious kitchen which was good when traveling with two kids and we didn’t have to eat for every meal. The pool was kind of small, but otherwise everything was great. Loved having a full sized washer and dryer. Great restaurants within walking distance, Disney and Universal only a few minutes away. A fair is right down the street also miniture golf and outlets nearby.

Worth the money

Great place for the money. We really enjoyed it. Some cosmetic issues was all we saw (ex. scratches on the wall, molding, etc). Nothing major. Really loved the washer and dryer in the unit, I was able to wash clothes before we left so that I did not have so much laundry to do when I got home. We will definately stay there again on our next visit. Cooked breakfast and supper, huge kitchen, bigger than mine at home. Really great place to stay.

Be sure to take papertowels, extra towel or two, trash bags, dish soap, salt & pepper if you plan on staying a while.

Where are the lights?

We loved the space we had in the condo, but there were a few problems with the unit. Housekeeping did not get towels for our kitchen after we asked. We went out and bought some ourselves. The lighting in our unit was really bad. The dining room had not overhead lights or lamps so we ate in the living room. Overall the unit needs lots more lights. One of the bedrooms had such dim lighting we could only see if we opened the blinds to the outside. I think our unit needs to be stocked better for guests.

Very pleasant stay

I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Disney World. Everything was very well maintained,clean, and very spacious. The full-size kitchen and laundry room was wonderful and the over-abundant closet space was a plus! The walk-in closet in the master bedroom was large enough to put a roll-away bed in, should you need it. The two spacious sitting rooms are a wonderful treat. Close by shopping was available also, very family friendly.

Definately a 3 star

This place has alot of potential, but needs a ton of work. First off, all the living room furniture is falling apart. The couch stuffing was coming out and the throw pillows stunk and were badly soiled.Tons of marks on walls,and stained carpet.However,the kitchen and bath’s and bedrooms were beautiful,except the bedroom blinds need replacing! Slats were missing and the Florida sun had my 2 year old up at 6am EVERY morning due to this.As we were leaving, we noticed they started to replace the carpet in some of the units, so it’s possible they are starting to remodel.Awesome location, right next to a shopping plaza that has a grocery store and a handfull of popular restaurants.This place was OK,but nothing special and I won’t go back.

Great Place to Stay

This condo was the cleanist place I have ever rented on a vacation. Everything was in the kitchen. The full size washer/dryer was great. Beds were a little hard, but after a long day playing in Orlando, it really didn’t matter. We did not have internet connection at the club house as stated in the amenities of the facility. I guess the worst thing was all linen had to be washed and placed in the linen closet on the day of check out. Check out is 10 am. If you have teenagers, that can be pretty difficult getting them up so the washing can be done.

Full kitchen facility with everything you need including an eat at bar and dining table for four people. Can really save a lot of money making your own meals.

My husband and I wanted a place close to my sons and we were very pleased to find this place. I normally stay in a rental house with a pool,like I did in January for a month but I was only staying 5 days so this place worked out great! So much better than a motel,more like your home!!

Close and Quiet

Three generations of us stayed in a 3 bed, 2.5 bath at the Oakwater resort for 8 nights and very quickly it started to feel like home. Close to Disney and about 2 miles from a Publix and Target. Great space. Not as well stocked with pots. As others have said could have done with paper towels on arrival. Sheets did keep coming off a not so clean mattress!!! Was very sorry that I didnt take all the sheets off as soon as we got there and washed them in HOT water before we started our stay. Pool was smaller than picture but there was hardly anyone in it. I was glad we didnt stay in a resort with many pools as it would have been distracting to the kids. They want to try it all. This way I got to sit in peace and was always able to see and hear them. Happy to be able to make a good breakfast and lunch to bring with us to the parks. It not only saved money, it was more healthy AND we didnt have to line up for food when we were hungry. We just found a bench and all six of us sat down and ate together. I loved the convenience of the washer dryer. We only brought one carry on bag each. I also brought a laptop to check email etc but I didnt want to use a credit card at the pool house to get internet access!! I was told that I could have used it at McDonalds which I was told was close. Florida Magic a couple of miles away let me use their computer to check my email quickly. We had a great stay and enjoyed the peace and quiet at this small resort.

It mentioned that we were not allowed to use the towels from the hotel for the pool. There wasnt enough anyway.....we just bought some Disney ones at Target and got to bring them home with us after. We went to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Not more than an hours journey and the kids really LOVED the coasters.

Needs a good cleaning!

Location to Disney is perfect.Stayed at oakwater in 3 bedroom condo. Layout of condo was nice & roomy but carpets were spotted with stains. Bathrooms were clean. Counted 18 fake flower arrangments in the main living area (Need to remove 3/4 of them) Dining room table was set for 6 people. Plates, saucers, bowls, silverware, cups, water glasses, wine glasses it was very cluttered as you couldn’t even see the tabletop. Dishes were dusty so had to wash evrything before we used them. Unfortunately no dish soap, dish clothes or paper towels provided. Sheets did not fit or stay on the beds, no matress pads so in morning you were sleeping directly on the mattress. Icky. Three closets but no hangers provided for clothes. Would be excellent to stay at if carpets were cleaned, linens upgraded, gum removed from the walls, clutter cleared out. Would be nice if basic supplies like extra toilet paper, small roll of paper towels, small bottle of dish soap, extra garbage bags would be provided. Would also be helpful to mention you need to climb up staires for those with mobility issues. This would actually be the perfect place for a family to stay when visiting Orlando. Quick easy drive to Disney, near restaurants and stores, easy access to major highways. Excellent value for the price if the unit was given a good cleaning, clutter clean out, linens upgraded, and basic supplies provided.

Very Comfortable place

This hotel is very conveniently located and is very close to the Disney theme parks.We went there for a 10 day stay .The condo that we got was a 3 bedroom one and it had a full kitchen including a stove,dishwasher and a garbage disposer(which to me is a must for every kitchen) They had some cooking utensils which were not in very good condition but were manageable.The carpet was dirty and worn out. But the biggest plus point was that it had its own laundry facility in the condo which was great!It was also close to Universal Studios.There was a pharmacy and lots of other super markets very close to it.There is a an Urgent medical care facility and also lots of restaurants less than a mile away.There was a river flowing behind the room and we had a beautiful view of that. We had an awesome experience overall! Would recommend it to all

Oakwater Resort in Orlando

Just got back from Orlando. We stayed at the Oakwater Resort (really a condo complex, but pretty nice). Our experience was quite enjoyable. The place is crazy close to Disney complex, and every service you could imagine is within a mile or so. You do need a car if stay here, unless you’re planning on doing nothing but hang around the room and clubhouse / pool.

Very good condo for the price

I stayed there for 8 nights in 2nd week of March 2009. It was a ver nice condo unit with good furnitue. The cookware in the kitchen was not updated in a while. Plenty of linens and towels. Don’t forget to take toilet roll, dish washing powder and laundry liquid. Very close to Disney. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. I am from Colorado and used to clean water. But the water there smelled bad.First I thought it was the condo. But water smells like that everywhere including restaurants and theme parks.

Stay in the park!

The Florida Magic Vacation told us that they had a shuttle to the Walt Disney World theme parks; however, once we checked in we got a different story. There was no shuttle. Their website also states that they are located just 1 mile from the Magic Kingdom. FALSE! It’s a good 10 to 15 minute drive.

Stay within Disney World and save a lot of hassle! No rental car. No baggage claim. No parking fees!

Bargain Price, Big, and great location

The service is non-existent, because what you are renting is a condo (not a hotel room) - though the check-in staff were helpful. There were plenty of towels provided, a hair dryer was in one of the 2.5 bathrooms, and the place was huge. There is a nice eat-in kitchen as well as a dining room and living room on the first floor. The three bedrooms are on the second floor. The master is big with a king bed and a large bathroom (with shower). The two guest bedrooms are just down the hall and share a bathroom. There are no overhead lights with the exception of the kitchen - lamps only, but that didn’t bother us. The kitchen is equipped with cups, plates, eating utensils, and basic cookware.

The condos are 15 minutes from Disney World (that includes the time needed to park). There are tons of restaurants, and several grocery stores very close by. There is only a single roll or toilet paper provided per bathroom, so I’d recommend bring t.p. and paper towels for the kitchen. No DVD players, so if you have a portable unit you might want to bring it.

OK but could be better

The facility itself was OK. The maintenance and service left something to be desired. Several light bulbs out, lack of trash bags, broken shower door, and broken bed leg. I reported these last two items to the front office and was waved off with Oh yeah we’ll get to that and they neveer did. No response, no follow-up and I was there a week. UNACCEPTABLE!

We chose this condo because it had 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms. It was very roomy and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

Nice 3 bedroom condo, but there were only lamps for lighting, except in the kitchen and bathroom. It is within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. This was well worth the amount paid.
