Good Place to Stay

Hotel was about a 4 block walk to the subway station which made it easy for transit into the city. Hotel was extremely helpful in giving us directions. Breakfast buffet was one of the best I have ever seen, albeit a little pricey at 19 euros per person.

Awesome hotel

The hotel is just increadible. It’s is very well located. The room is nice, very clean, and comfortable. The only no is the shower, where the glass is not enough to prevent the water from soaking the rest of the place. I would definitively stay there on my next vacation, in two months.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

The best subway station is Pilgrangasse. But if you enjoy walking, the hotel is in a walking distance from most of the places. At night, don’t miss the restaurants at the stop Kettenbrukengrasse. It’s a great mix of restaurants located at an open space with great food and best price ever.

The hotel male clerks at the front desk were very nice. I was not impressed with the women clerks.

I had to insist I paid for breakfast with my room. I loved the abllilty to contact expedia and they took care of everything...good job. I came back to my room after a day of sightseeing and was upset that my room was not cleaned. I left early in the day so there was no excuse. The front desk came me towels but overall I was disappointed. I did enjoy the free internet at the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel.

Not impressed

This hotel was very clean, but the rooms were small. They don’t let you control the air temperature, so the only way to cool down the room (it was hot) was to open the window. Since most of the rooms face the busy street below, the noise was unbearable witht the windows open. Also, front desk staff could be friendlier. The hotel is located about 5 minutes away by foot from the metro. The breakfast was NOT included, which in my experience is somewhat unusual for European hotels.

Falkensteiner Palace hotel

The hotel was comfortable, breakfast was excellent. The hotel was within easy reach of the centre of Vienna and and the UN headquarters. Dinner could improve and it escaped my attention that breakfast was extra. Internet should be free of charge as in most 4-star hotels. I would recomend it to the bargain traveller.

Great Bargain for the price

We had a wonderful stay at the Falkensteiner Hotel Palace. The staff were wonderful. The full breakfast which is included in the price was absolutely great. The room was a fair size as European rooms go. Neat, clean, quiet, safe, convenient. We would stay again.

Falkensteiner Hotel Palace

The hotel has no air conditioning until June. The rooms facing the courtyard have southern exposure and are too hot, when the windows are open the courtyard is too noisy because of early morning kitchen and trash activity. The northern exposure windows face the noisy street. The cleaning staff is very loud as well. Customer service is great and very helpful. Hotel staff is curteous and polite.

Traveler's tip

The hotel is too far from the center and requires a subway ride there.

Great Stay!

Thanks, Expedia! What a great hotel. Very contempory, clean, spacious, and only two blocks from a subway station. My husband is still talking about the breakfast buffet, included with the package. Nice quiet location with quick access to everything in the city. We connected with terrific restaurants close to the hotel. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel. Its a winner.

Great Hotel with Great Service

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for the Christmas vacation and could not have asked for a more friendly and comfortable place to stay. The staff was particularly helpful and friendly. The location is great too, not far from the underground, so it was easy to get to the city center and back whenever we wanted. When we left, we felt like we were saying good bye to friends. We would recommended this hotel very highly.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The Vienna Pass is well worth the money. You can get it from the hotel front desk. Don’t miss having a meal at Schwarzer Adler. It is one block from the hotel on Schonbrunnerstr. 40. Excellent Austrian food and friendly staff.

Good hotel for the money

Only issue was we had was 2 twin beds pushed together instead of one queen bed. Other than that everything was great. Large room considering it is Europe. Very helpful and friendly staff. Located only 5 minutes from U-bahn, which can literally take you anywhere. The hotel is in a nice quiet neighborhood, but is only about a 5 minute train ride from all sights. Try to eat at one of the delis around the hotel - good food. I would definitely stay here again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The train system in Vienna is extremely easy and efficient so I would highly recommend getting a 2 or 3 day u-bahn ticket (depending on how long your stay is).

breakfast and location are excellent

from airpot buy local QBB train ticket to Lanstrasse (3.4 euro); then from Landstrasse, buy sinegle one way ticket to Pilgramg where the hotel is (1.7 euro). It’s cheaper and faster than takeing the bus which will cost 6 euro to West station, then 1.7 euro subway to Pilgramg, where the hotel is. The bath tub doesnot drain well if you are on top floor. The room is spacious and clean.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

from airport, buy train ticket at regular ticket machine (NOT CAT) to Lanstrasse/Wien Mitte for 3.4 euro. You can choose English when buying ticket. Your ticke will has QBB on it and look for this sign to the train platform or ask locals; the same for return to airport, buy QBB ticket at Lanstrasse. CAT to the same stop will cost 9 euros. Do not buy ticket at airport Infomation, they will tell you one way CAT train ticket to lanstrasse will cost 10.7 euro and round trip 17.70 euro.

Not Impressed

I would have to say that it was an interesting place. Don’t think I have ever slept in a smaller bed, but still felt comfortable. In contrast to the rooms, the lobby and reception was modern and stylish but with a permeating cigarette smell and usually thick cigarette smoke. The non-smoking room I got also had a faint cigarette smell to it, and the furniture was old, although overall it was pretty clean. Staff was friendly and helpful - but overall, it’s not a hotel I would go back to when I return to Vienna.

A Hidden Gem

Although this is a minimalist modern and cool hotel, the staff and ambiance is both friendly and cozy. It’s located in a quiet residential neighborhood so you get a flavor of the local restaurants, stores, and deli’s, but yet it’s only two blocks from the Pilgramgasse subway station, and only two short stops from the Innerstadt city center. A single room is somewhat small, but is very well designed, especially the bathroom, so that after a while it doesn’t feel small at all. The hotel serves a full Viennese breakfast each morning and it is a great way to start each day. There is also a free Internet computer in the hotel lobby.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Take a day trip to Salzburg, and see Mozart’s birthplace as well as some of the Sound of Music filming locations. Visit the spectacular Gloriette Terrace and Neptune Fountain at Schonbrunn Palace. Take in a wonderful concert by the Vienna Mozart Symphony at the Musikverein. Visit the Leopold and Albetina museums for exhibitions of great Vienna artists. Buy the Vienna Card. Explore thoroughly the entire Innerstadt, which has many side alleyways and wonderful hidden places.

Wonderful Vienna Hotel

I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They even switched over to English when I walked through the lobby so that they could say hi to me!! The room was small but cozy, definitely more than adequate for my purposes. Everything was very clean and in order. The continental breakfast is nothing short of awesome: everything from sausage, bacon, and eggs to yogurt, cereal, and about 25 different types of breads and pastries. The bar is a fun place to go in the evening after a hard day of traveling. They have good beer on tap as well as a decent selection of cocktails. Roland the Bartender was a really nice guy just like the rest of the staff. The hotel is very conveniently located 5 minutes from the Pilgrimgasse U-Bahn station, which is 1 stop from the Naschmarkt and 2 stops from the Innere Stadt. There are several good restaurants within walking distance, including the "5er," which makes an excellent Schweines Schnitzel as well as a very respectable mojito. I definitely recommend this place to anyone travelling to Vienna who doesn’t want to pay the premium rates found at the hotels closer to downtown.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Buy the Vienna Card! It gives you 72 hours of free unlimited access to the complete public transportation, as well as discounts at numerous stores and restaurants all across town. It’s available for 18.50 Euro at the front desk.

Vienna perfect place to stay

Hotel is not very far from the city center but it’s very convenient for tours across the city. Staff is great, they speak perfect English. One of the things we liked the most is the breakfast for late risers which can be booked the evening before. It is served from 10:00am until 11:30am.

Perfect location, great staff and service

I stayed at the Falkensteiner Palace during a recent trip to Vienna. Since I travel alone and I am an elderly woman, I especially appreciated the young and friendly staff. They ordered an opera ticket for me and made sightseeing redommendations. The breakfast buffet was very fresh and the extended hours for it(6.30 a.m. until 11.30 a.m.) were convenient. Very clean room, and quiet. Safe with programmable code in the room. Located two blocks from metro station.

Traveler's tip on dining

Several good restaurants within a few minutes walk. Also several good delis. Bar with friendly staff right in the hotel.

Helpful, accommodating staff and nice rooms.

I stayed at Falkensteiner Hotel Palace for three nights while visiting Vienna. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Pilgramgasse stop on the U4 line which was incredibly convenient to use, though I did get a little turned around trying to find the hotel when I first arrived. I first checked into one of the more modern rooms at the hotel (Bellini style) which was very sleek and comfortable. Though I had a non-smoking room, the room smelled very heavily of cigarette smoke, which I endured for the first night. The next evening when I returned to the hotel from a long day of exploring the city and my room still smelled of cigarettes, I requested to change rooms. The staff member at reception was apologetic and couldn’t offer me a room until the next night, insisting that the hotel was booked full, but when I returned from dinner later on that same night she went out of her way to stop me as I came through the lobby and said they had an open room I could move to if I liked. The second room was in traditional decor and had two single beds, just as comfortable (even moreso with the absence of cigarette stench). Very friendly staff, clean linens, and convenient to the city center. A very pleasant stay overall.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Very easy to get to coming from Vienna Airport (only one subway change after taking the City Airport Train into the city). The closest U-Bahn stop to the hotel is just a few short stops away from Schoebrunn Palace or Karlsplatz close to the city center.

OK, but not the best

Nice hotel, with a very very nice bar/restaurant area. Staff was helpful and resourceful. The only issue I had was with the comfort in the room. We asked for one bed and they give us two twins put together. When we asked for a different room with a queen size bed, they said they did not have any. Now, I have to really think hard to remember the last time I slept in a twin bed, but OH WELL.

Traveler's tip on dining

Water is at a premium. They do not serve any tap water or any water they cannot charge for. WATCH OUT...

Great breakfast buffet!

There isn’t a whole lot to do in the immediate vicinity of this hotel and the Biedermeier rooms could use a little TLC and/or updating (I didn’t see the other rooms). However, the hotel is quiet, close to multiple forms of public transportation, the staff is great, and the breakfast buffet is outstanding with very extended hours. Definitely a significant factor when pricing hotels and meals!

Traveler's tip for business travelers

High speed or wireless internet is not available on all hotel floors and the wifi service the hotel uses is a little expensive. To use the internet I had to go sit in the main floor bar as my 4th floor room only had a dial up option. You will want to ask about internet access on your floor when you check in!
