Good but not Great in Marmaris/Icmeler
While Marti Resort might be the best hotel in Marmaris, it needs some improvements. We requested two rooms, and were upgraded to a villa, which sounds good, but that’s not what we wanted. The restaurants and bars were a nice surprise. We had half board, which included an impressive breakfast and a very nice dinner buffet. Drinks are expensive, but that’s the same at most beach resorts. The place is beautiful, perfect setting, particularly for families. The pools are large, the beach is clean, the water is crystal clear. Our big complaint was the air conditioning doesn’t work during the day (or that’s what they told us), so there was no escape from the heat (except the pool and sea). Staff was responsive and they had a good activities program for both kids and adults. Lots to do in the area, and reasonably priced.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you’re staying a week, rent car instead of taking a taxi. Taxi’s from the airport are expensive (90 km drive), and with a car you can visit other places in the region. A day trip to Hierapolis at Pamukkale is essential unless all you plan to do is sit on the beach or shop.
