Decent Hotel in a Decent Area
My room served it’s function: a place to sleep and shower. It definitely has an old feel to it, from the bed, to the red carpet and matching chair and curtains. The area looked a little sketchy and noise was easily heard within the hotel walls, but not too much from outside. Near a couple of restaurants, casinos and the university. The "gym" as it’s called is inadequate- 2 pieces of equipment, no free weights, etc. The maids were a little loud when talking in the hallway, regardless of the "Do Not Disturb" sign hanging on the door. Pretty much the same hotel I stayed in a year ago- no changes.

Remodel and Electronic Equipment
This hotel was chosen due to location to our vacation destination and the availability of a swimming pool. I had reservations for (2) rooms. Information said newly remodeled. The remodel was not done and when I requested a romm at the far end of the hotel away from the construction I was not accomodated. Also the pool was down ans would not be reopened till the following Monday (this was a Thursday night/Friday stay.) The televisions in this hotel have been fixed so that no external attachments are possible (wanted to view a VCR tape and hook up kids XBOX)

Kansas City Best Western option
I would recommend this Best Western with the advice that the BW is undergoing major renovations and service can be disrupted due to the workmen on site, but for our one night stay, and we stay here often, there was no problem.
Traveler's tip on dining
We ate at Jack’s Stack near Union Station on the recommendation of the desk at BW, it was an excellent choice.
