Convenient but expensive for size and amenities, but par for Paris.
Rates seem high for size of hotel and rooms, but par for the course for city like Paris/ The newer bathroom elevated it. We chose the hotel because it was very convenient to Montparnasse train station and metro stop right out the door. Neighborhood borders St. Germain-Luxembourg so not as pictureasque, but comfortable walking distance there and Seine. Altho the twin room we had was small, no extra space wasted, it was still simple and charming, clean with nice cotton sheets and comfortable beds. If you like fresh air the french windows open -- ask for the back rather than street -- and is quite peaceful at night except for the dull rumble of the metro below. The bonus was the beautiful good sized bathroom with new shower, sink, toilet all very modern and beautiful tiled walls and chrome fixtures. Very nice to look forward to at the end of a long day. Management is courteous and hotel safe, altho small ii is not old and shabby. Beware early arrivals, you may leave your bags in the little but no checkin till 2pm.
In all our trips to Paris, we never visited the Orangerie Musee before. It is a lovely, intimate little museum in the Tuileries, a new favorite. And the boats on the Seine at night cant be beat. That sparkling Eiffel Tower!!! And walking is still the best way to absorb the flavor of Paris.

Great, Busy Location
The Edouard 6 Montparnasse Hotel is in a busy location with lots of resturaunts and within walking distance of the popular Paris sights. We were able to walk to St. Germain,j ust down the street, the Eiffel Tower and the Seine in a short amount of time. The hotel itself is a little worn in the common areas, but the rooms are updated and lovely. The large bathroom was spotless, with new fixtures. Our 6th floor room had two large windows; one in the bathroom, and one in the bedroom area, that opened up with a view of the street and skyline. When it was too noisy to sleep, we closed the windows and turned on the individually controlled airconditioning. Our stay was perfect for the last night in Paris!
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
We are walkers, and prefer hotels in locations that we do not have to rely on public transportation. Edouard 6 Montparnasse Hotel fit perfectly into this criteria for us.

Loved the location...
Located in the Montparnasse area, with a Metro stop literally steps from the door, and numerous cafes and shops nearby, we felt like we really were in the heart of Paris and not in the midst of a tourist area. The staff was very friendly and helpful, spoke English fairly well, and gave very good directions and suggestions as far as shopping, dining, Metro, etc. Our room was clean but small, the bathrooms very nice (apparently recently remodeled). The bed was average... not at all plush as we are used to here in the states! I have never seen such a small elevator! It has a 3 person capacity, but its one at a time if youre with your luggage... use the lovely spiral staircase when youre not. As others have reported, the place could use some touching up... baseboards and hallway walls need some patching (cosmetically, nothing major).
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The Galleries Lafayette are just across the street, Montparnasse Tower also which offers a lovely view of the city. A walk up the Rue de Rennes for some good local shopping is nice. Within 100 yards: Starbucks, an internet cafe, a pharmacy, McDonalds, a Steak restaurant, many cafes/brasseries and bakeries, BNP (which offers fee free ATM withdrawals for BankOfAmerica customers), and more!
