Great hotel but........
The hotel itself was really great value. The service was good, rooms were clean and fashionable, food was good, and very close to the beach. However it was far from the big tourist areas so it was a real pain getting to Barra and Pelourinho via bus (altho bus station was very nearby) or an expensive taxi ride. But if you just want to hang by the beach or their pool to relax then I recommend this hotel.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Learn to take the bus. They are plentiful and you can get to almost everywhere you need, as taxis are very expensive in Brazil and the drivers may try to rip you off if you are a foreigner.

Screwed up my laundry service - but otherwise a nice stay.
The service is a little flighty, even for Brazil. And a bit far from town.
