avoid this hotel at all times

this is a good hotel for any person to avoid, this is not equipped to be a rated 4 star, also i am puzzled why expedia had recommended this hotel. we usually value expedia recomendations so this is bad reflection on expedia.

Horrible experience

Arrived at the hotel with rooms not ready, had to wait for 3 hours. Staff at the reception were very unfriendly. When go to the room they were not cleaned, cigarette buds lying on the floor, bed covers were smelly. When i asked them to change the bed covers they informed that they do not have any stock. Breakfast is supposed to be available from 7-10, but if you go at 9 its difficult to find any thing and the hotel does not want to refill. On the whole, it was the most horrible hotel/resort I have ever come across. I am not sure on what basis and who gave a star rating of 4 its not worth of a 2 star even.

Arrived at 4pm and the room was not ready. cut my foot by the pool and unfortunately a very small spot of blood was on the bed sheed and they tried to charge me 2000 Baht ! But it was relaxing there. I thought someone was in my room but the shower room is open at the top to the next room which I was nopt impressed with

Royal Orchid Resort - extreme failure to deliver

I stayed at this North Pattaya hotel for 17 nights in March 2007. The hotel’s condition left me wondering why I ever booked a stay here in the first place. The hotel has NO elevator- try lugging your suitcase up three flights! Try lugging yourself after a tired day of sightseeing! The room I was given at first had a phone which could NOT dial to outside numbers. After complaining to the hotel staff several times, they finally moved me to another room with an operational phone (a day later). On more than one occassion, I had to complain to the hotel lobby that no one had cleaned my room. One week, there were toxic odors surrounding the wing where I was staying- they were busy doing loud constuction (hammering, drilling, etc...)work on several of the rooms there. That was when the power was cut for one day- imagine no air conditioning in a place as hot as Thailand! My once funtional phone was also dead from the power outage. The staff was less than friendly- I had bad experiences with them more than once. I asked them to be put in a different room with a funtioning phone- the girl at the desk said it would cost me more money! My patience was tested by the staff- who seemed not to care that I had paid a lot of money to stay at their run-down hotel. Perhaps the only saving grace that they had to offer was the hotel’s location. About 2 blocks from the busy road and only 1 block to the beach.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

I’d warn anyone thinking about staying at the Royal Orchid Resort in Pattaya to think twice- there are several other nicer hotels in town. I will NEVER stay at the Royal Orchid ever again- I had a miserable experience that I hope to forget as soon as possible!

Great, spacious hotel

Wonderfully clean and spacious rooms. Great pool with an outdoor terrace restaurant/bar. It’s a little bit of a walk to the main road, but the hotel offers a shuttle (4 or 5 times a day) to Big C. Only negatives are that the people at reception are a bit English challenged and doors are thin (could hear people out in the hallway). Overall a great hotel--very satisfied with my stay and would book again.
