Wonderful Find
For a beautiful, spacious, warm and friendly alternative to staying in an urban hotel in the heart of a busy city, try A-1 Lakeview Bed and Breakfast. Located an lovely 25 minutes north of Halifax, this bed and breakfast boasts 7,000 feet of living space and only three, beautifully appointed guest rooms (one with a fireplace). With its own private dock on Porters Lake with views from every room and two rooms with private balconies overlooking the lake, youll experience a rural setting with easy access to other destinations in Nova Scotia. Owner Kim Keeping is a lovely hostess, great cook, and enjoyable conversationalist, who makes you feel at home and helps you plan your daily adventures if you wish. The two-story vaulted ceiling, large communal sitting area with fireplace, is frequently yours alone, and has sweeping views of the lake and surrounding countryside. What a marvelous find for the traveler who wants more than a hotel room.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Beautiful lake views, lake access and a dock on the property, lovely and spacious rooms, excellent breakfasts, and a friendly and helpful innkeeper. All this and only 25 minutes from downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. A better alternative to a small hotel room in a crowded urban area. Easy access to coastal villages and beyond. A major find!!

Excellent hotel, excellent service
This hotel was very nice. A large pool and very friendly staff. The jacuzzi was perfect for two people, room had strong A/C, large bedroom and patio. This was a great way to wind down our vacation and explore Halifax on our last day in Nova Scotia.

Make sure to go to the Public Gardens in downtown Halifax. It is gorgeous!
