A great short escape!

We had a great time here. The service was friendly - if geared totally to the US market - and the hotel was comfortable and well appointed. There was also a good mix of young and old, and not too many children (but enough to be fun!). The pool area was popular, but clean and well maintained. The beach was straight off the property and also well maintained and with a few very polite hawkers only. There is an emphasis on selling timeshares, but coming from Europe we were not prime targets and were left alone very quickly once we said we had no interest. We thoroughly recommend the sailing trips on the Americas Cup yachts. TIP: at the airport, ignore the "greeters" just outside the exit doors and head straight to the next lobby where you really can get a taxi/minibus ticket without having the hard sell from the timeshare touts.

Sunset & whales from an Americas Cup sailing yacht!

Beautiful resort

The staff members are friendly and the services are wonderful. However, one major problem is the bed mattress in our room is super hard. My husband and I woke up every morning with back pains. We asked the staff members at the front desk if we could upgrade to a different room that has a better mattress; they said that all their mattresses are the same (which I think do not think it’s true). Therefore, we suffered sleeping on a rock hard mattress the rest of our stay.

Eat at Tabasco café; it’s about 5 minutes walk on the beach from the resort. They have great drinks and foods for less than you pay at the resort. Eat at La Mazatlan located down town. It’s a family restaurant with great foods and great prices. Another great restaurant near center of town is Mi Casa/Su Casa.

Is it too soon for another vacation?

We stayed at Villa del Arco in conjunction with our daughter’s wedding. We were extremely pleased with the service and the staff, especially the wedding coordinator and all her associates and the concierge desk! We’d make an inquiry and it was answered, period. We had a fairly large group that had made the trip for the wedding and they all also seemed pleased. This was definitely the stress-free way to throw a wedding!

The Shrimp Factory, Maria Corona’s, Panchos, Puerta Vieja, La Panga Antigua; we had great food at all of these restaurants!

Loved the experience.

30th wedding anniversary/God child wedding. Facilities awesome, entire crew out of their way friendly/cooperative. Would go back in a heartbeat. Great golf too.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Great golf reasonably priced. One course, Cabo Real, offered free beverages while on course. Great shopping/eating down at the Marina.

Have mixed feelings

This was the first time we didn’t stay in an all inclusive so it was not as convienent as far as meals, etc. but we did go to Walmart and get food and liquor so we usually had breakfast and lunch at the room then went down the beach, town, or the marina for dinner which was nice. I cant really say if we spent more or less money that way. I do know that we liked going off the hotel and when we stayed at the Riu - we felt like we already paid for the food and drinks and should just stay. Plus, we didn’t eat or drink as much either this way. They hotel is very nice, clean and service was good. Not many activities going on which made it low key and kind of boring. I would recommend it - the location enabled us to walk wheverever we wanted to go - except Walmart of course - but we are avid exercisers also.

Not helpful at all

Staff was eager to take our money but not to help us, never any chairs at the pool. The staff was rude and even yelled at my husband then when realized they were wrong did not offer an apology. Prices were sky high and not worth it. Refused to book tours for us because we would not do the time share seminar. Worst vacation we have ever been on!! We even tried checking out early!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Always carry small bills, 20 pesos for the cabs. they like to act like they don’t have change. Cabo Wabo is a must, great staff and good prices. Pancho’s is behind it and they have over 500 different tequilas. Fun spot!

Looking forward to coming back

I liked the location of the Hotel, along one of the famous beaches within walking distance to town, or a short cab ride. We were always greeted with friendly faces, and no matter what we needed the me our needs. (examples- our remote wasn’t working they sent someone up within 15 minutes, needed some extra pillows, same response.)Rooms were clean and the service was good. The pool area was very nice. Since all the rooms have some sort of kitchen I would recommend going to Walmart and picking up a few items for the stay.

Traveler's tip on dining

I recommend going to "The Office" on the beach for dinner, we also found a great Mexican restaurant called Maria Corona it’s just a couple of block north of the marina. Senior Sweets at the Marina for Dessert, and just people watching. We did enjoy visiting, The Mango Deck, and Cabo Wabo, we just are not huge drinkers.

Thank goodness we missed the hurricane!

This was my second time staying at a Villa Group hotel and both experiences were good. The room was clean and the view was nice of the bay. The balcony had plenty of room to relax and/or have a meal. The trolly service provided was convenient for going to the onsite grocery store. You are on vacation, so expect things to cost more; such as transportation, food etc. The pool could have used a better cleaning, as the water was always cloudy. The neighboring hotel pool was under construction so the pool area was very crowded. Received poor service from one of the waiters (didn’t get his name)the entire stay and the service was slow overall. The timeshare sales overall in Cabo were overwhelming and I found them to be an interruption to my vacation. Overall we had a good time in Cabo and will continue to put this on our vacation destination list.

Traveler's tip

The bus (like .50 cents per person) is obviously cheaper than a taxi (about $7 one way to the marina area from hotel) and it really didn’t feel safe to walk at night. There was a lot of construction going on around town and many restaurants and stores were empty. There are many restaurants at the marina and shopping mall area. You could walk down the beach to the marina area from the hotel...if you like to walk.

Perfect Location

The Villa del Arco is a great hotel to stay in. The location was perfect, it was not too close to the crowded areas of Medano beach but wasn’t too boring neither. We enjoyed the pools they had, and my son was thrilled with the "pirate boat" they had in the pool. They also had a minimart in the hotel vicinity and it was fun riding the trolley to get there. despite all the warnings about the timeshare people, they didn’t bother us at all, except at the airport. As we were heading out of the airport, we were swarmed by TONS of timeshare people, who at first claim that they will lead you to your transpotation to your hotel. Do not be fooled by these people, they will only delay you, and get you to go to one of their timeshare presentations. we politely said no, and then ignored them after. All in all, I loved Villa del Arco, and would definitely stay there again!!!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

If you plan on going fishing... don’t expect to catch alot of fish. I thought August would be the greatest time to go fishing, but we were wrong. We did Catch one fish, and it was actually a rare catch. But really, I thought it was too pricey, and the waves were too strong, and SCARY!! Don’t bring kids, I don’t think they’ll enjoy the scary waves and the bumpy ride.

Timeshare hell

Timeshare HELL! OMG first and foremost we didn’t realize that 85% of the rooms in Cabo are timeshares...what a nightmare, although it was fun I’m not sure I’ll be going there again anytime soon...Villa de los Arcos treats you like a second class citizen if you’re not a member and are staying there as a guest which is a crock of bs. The grounds were designed in a way where you HAVE to go through the lobby to leave the premises which means you will be hassled by their sales people EVERY time you walk by there...it got to a point where we had to start being rude and stern. Don’t know that I’d stay here again...the beach although its suppose to be an area you can swim with felt very unsafe and the currents were strong...not my cup of tea, next time I’m going to Ixtapa or Cancun if I want to enjoy the ocean in Mexico. If you have kids its a great place to stay, spring breakers...stay away and if you’re just looking for a quick getaway prepare yourself for a stay of constant sales pitches!

Great Hotel

This was our first trip to Cabo and won’t be our last!! Loved the Villa Del Arco. Booked the 1 BR suite, very spacious and luxurious. The property was very well maintained ( it is fairly new ), the pools, spa,and gym were all top quality. Great value.

I want to go back to paradise!

My mom and i went to Cabo to relax and enjoy ourselves. This is one of the best hotels we have ever been to.the view was absolutely incredible. the service was excellent and the pool side waiter was extremely nice and always attentive to our needs. I would go back tomorrow if i could. I highly recommend this hotel. :D

Nice Place To Stay

The hotel was very beautiful. The views were good. The cruise ships dock so at times your view of the ocean will be obstructed. Beware of the the "concierge" desk. That was the only disappointment. They pretend they want to simply welcome you to the hotel, but they try to SUCK you in to going to a time share presentation in exchange for a gold card. In our whole time in Cabo we only went to 1 place that accepted that gold card. The concierge called our room at 8am about timeshare and she questioned us when she saw us walking out of the hotel to walk into town, she went so far as to ask us to pinky swear that we promise not to do a timeshare presentation with anyone other than her. The vendors on the beach were a bit bothersome, but overall the hotel was NICE. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Traveler's tip on dining

The office on Medano beach, which you can walk to from Villa Del Arco, has really good food! Alexanders at the Marina has really good food too.

Great Resort

The resort was great. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was great. We went to the time share presentation and it wasn’t that bad. We got some free stuff and good discounts out of it, just be prepared to say "no" a lot. I would deffinately recommend this place to my friends.

Traveler's tip on dining

We found a great restaurant called Villa Sedana. It was a little off the beaten path, but had a great view and the food was fantastic. Ask someone at the hotel to help you get there.

Very enjoyable five days

Very nice hotel. Had great pool-side room. All associates extremely courteous and helpful. Very nice pool.

Traveler's tip on dining

Ate most evening meals in town. La Dolce Italian Restaurant is probably our faborite. If there was more time, would have eaten there again and again. Maria Corona’s Mexican restaurnat very good also.

Beautiful spot

Lovely resort with beautiful pools on Melia beach. Time Share people are agressive but after 2 days of saying "no" they left us alone. Trolley to sister resort was very convenient for access to other restaurants, the market and deli. On-site restaurants are expensive and food options limited.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The zip line tour with Cabo Adventures was fantastic. The staff was fun and professional, the scenery beautiful and the experience memorable for the entire family. Another "must" is a glass bottom boat trip to Lover’s Beach. Bring some water and snacks with you and plan to enjoy some time swimming or snorkeling in the calm, blue waters on the Sea of Cortez side.

Great, family friendly resort

We had never been to Cabo and were there for a wedding. We were pleasantly surprised by our king suite room which had a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and 2 full baths. The master bedroom was gorgeous and spacious and opened up into our bathroom complete with jacuzzi tub. Truly primo accomodations! We have 2 small kids (ages 5 and 6) and had ample play room. It was a home away from home. The pool was very kid friendly with a shallow fountain/splash zone great for babies and toddlers. There is the trademark pirate ship/restaurant which sits in one of the pools. The kids loved swimming around and walking on the ship. They have a great and complete fitness center which is free to guests and includes Nautilus equipment, 7-10 treadmills, elliptical, etc. There is even a trolley car to a small shopping area and to adjacent hotels which are part of a resort "compound". The hotel is located on a part of lovely Mendano beach that gets a nice breeze which offsets the heat of August. The beach is nice and warm and great for swimming and splashing. The tide goes onshore which is great from a safety standpoint. Needless to say, we had a splendid time and couldn’t recommend the Villa del Arco more highly. We hope to return soon.

Having a kitchen is a terrific way to travel if you have a family. One can save considerably on food this way. Cabo also has a Wal-Mart and Costco that is probably a 10-15 minute cab ride away so it’s a great way to stock up your kitchen. The resort also has a mini-mart on premises so you can pick up some things if needed.

First time to Cabo..and VDA

We did quite the research and kept coming back to the Villa Del Arco. All the things that were said about the hotel were true, both good and bad. Overall we would probably come back and maybe even do the "presentation". The downers were the sales jobs that were soooo prevalent in the hotel. They do not really have a concierge but a sales staff so don’t expect help from the "concierge" folks for recommendations especially if you told them "repeatedly", NO. The pool chairs are by "reservation only" even though they have signs everywhere that say you can’t reserve seats at the pool. Was even more pronounced because the the property next door had their pool being refurbished so even more folks reserving chairs EARLY! I woke up everyday around 6-7am and would see folks scurrying around to reserve up to 4 chairs at a time. I know for a fact, that at times they would only come down during the day to check on the chairs and leave. Good things, the hotel was immaculately CLEAN. They would always be mopping, mowing, cleaning all during the day and night! The sushi bar was awesome! Overall I would give the hotel a B!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

DO NOT book activities in advance! Go shop around when you get there and check prices. Luckily we only booked one thing in advance, the dinner cruise. If you like to drink, they didn’t get the name booze cruizes for nothing!

Excellent Villa

We were so pleased with our recent stay at Villa Del Arco. The staff was very friendly and helpful in our everyday activities and easy to communicate with. The room was exactly like the pictures on the website. It was very comfortable and the maid service was quick each morning. The restaurants had excellent food and service and the prices were tolerable. The only downfall was that the other guests would put their towels onto the poolside chairs bright and early each morning, so if you didn’t get to the pool by at least 9:30 am you didn’t get a chair. These guests would then leave their towels on these chairs all day and come and go as they wanted all day long. It was quite rude but our only real complaint about the hotel. We are looking forward to staying at Villa Del Arco again!

Traveler's tip on dining

The best margarita we found was at the No Worries bar. The best atmosphere and scenery (and food) was at the Villa Serena Restaurant. Expensive but worth it!

Family Vacation

We took a family vacation, my husband and me and our two daughters & son-in-laws and two granddaughters. We all had a wonderful time. The Monday Night Fiesta is a must and the resort pools are the best. The resort was CLEAN which I loved.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The Walmart is a great place for breakfast/lunch and snack items. If there are more than three people, rent a van (about $120 for a day) to see Todos Los Santos (about an hours drive). If you book this trip, it will cost $54 per person.

Great hotel, especially for families with kids

We had a great time in Cabos and saved a lot of money by staying @ Villa del Arco. Since there is a Kmart and Costco nearby, we bought a lot of snacks/drinks and cooked breakfast and lunch in our villa. The rooms are very clean and you have everything you would need to cook. The mattress was ok but the pillows are hard. Other than that, I would hightly recommend this hotel.

Traveler's tip on dining

You must eat at "mariscos Mazatlan" which is located in downtown and only a few minutes away from the hotel. Taxis charge $7.00 each way. The office is another must-go-to place. It is off the beach and within walking distance from the hotel.

Nice Decor

We were pleased to see a very nice all tile room. The air conditioning worked great! Hotel staff was hit and miss, some friendly, some not. I was impressed with the products l’occitane and teva. I was not impressed with the lighting, only one lamp in the room, our light bulb was out. They happily replaced the bulb. The food was mediocre. I would stay there again, overall satisfied.

Traveler's tip on dining

each cab ride into town is seven dollars one way, so keep in mind to add 14 dollars to every dinner bill that you have in town. Hotel is a little to far out to walk.
