Comfortable and enjoyable

Hotel is located in a very favorable site. Close to the freeway, thus easy to get to local attractions. Service was excellent, at the front desk, in the room and especially at the morning breakfast,which was included with the room. Room was spacious and had all the necessary accessories, including a microwave and a refrigerator.

It was Okay

Bathroom shower curtain was gross. Parking is scarce especially while the water park is open. Front desk people were very helpful. Lobby was pretty cramped. Staff was smoking outside.

All the amenities were excellent. I had two problems - there was no restaurant close by and second - there is no lounge where 6-8 people can sit and engage in conversation; the front desk would not allow the cafeteria area to be used although it was kept closed after breakfast.

This Hotel was OK

The room was very clean and comfortable. The service stay was nice. The location of the hotel was good. However, the breakfast was less than I expected.

Comfortable, Good Price, Toilet Not Working

We arrived late to the hotel with our 2 young children. Check-in was smooth and the room was clean and bigger than we initially thought. After using the toilet, however, it began to back up, so I went the next morning to the front desk. Surprisingly, the desk worker handed me a plunger and expected me to plunge our toilet. I took care of the problem and returned the plunger, still surprised that they would not send a maintenance person to fix the problem. Later that day, the toilet backed up again for no apparent reason. On my next time through the lobby, I told the (different) desk worker about the problem and she said she would call maintenance. The maintenance person did not show up, so we had to use the lobby toilet for the next half-day before we checked out. Other than the toilet issue, the hotel was nice, the breakfast was good (waffle maker that made yummy waffles), and the water park was relatively inexpensive due to the off-season ($9). We had a good family time, but wish the toilet was fixed the first time by a hotel staffer.

Be careful about putting your credit card down for extra charges. They charged my entire stay to my credit card even though it was already paid for through Expedia. Luckily I caught it as I was checking out and they refunded my money.

Great place to stay - even my dog agrees!

Staff was quick to check me in and very courteous. The facility was clean and inviting. I stayed here with my dog and they treated her like a guest as well. Nice place. Wish I would have had more time in my schedule to use the water park.

Very comfortable to stay. Staff is friendly, room is clean, breakfast area is little crowded though. I’m very satisfied.

Would go back

Nice hotel, convienient location right off of I-90 and Highway 16. Makes it easy to get to Mount Rushmore and The Badlands. It would have been nice if the hotel had a resturant located inside of it though. But there are loads of places to eat on I-90 so not a big deal. Waterpark was great for the kids too. Definently a family style hotel.

Very Enjoyable Stay

The hotel is mainly for families because of the waterpark. We enjoyed the waterpark very much. The breakfast was average but the women that worked the breakfast bar were great. The beds were comortable and the hotel was quiet early for a good night’s sleep.

This location is near 1 major and 3 local highways. We easily got everywhere from our hotel.

good deal on this hotel. we were pleased with the service, the room and the comfort of the room. we slept in late the first day (about noon) and when we got back late in the evening, our room had not been cleaned...otherwise we really did like the hotel. good location for travel to mt. rushmore and custer state park. will consider staying again when we return to the area.

Satisfied with hotel

We just spent one night at LaQuinta Rapid City, but it was clean and comfortable. Also the room was bigger than some we’ve stayed in. Enjoyed the breakfast where they had two waffle-makers, boiled eggs, etc in addition to the usual continental fare. Watiki Park is probably fun for families, but I missed having a pool.

Journey Museum is really worth a look. We spent two hours there. There is a lot about the Indian culture, but it also covers geology, dinosaurs, pioneers,and more recent regional history. Lots of activities for children too.

They advertise the crap out of the waterpark.They don’t tell you that they open at 4:00pm and close at 9:00pm on the off season(nine months out of the year). Very disappointing

Good location, but avoid weekends and tour groups

Breakfast area was way too small. There were bus tour groups there when we stayed and these older folks completely attacked the food and made a mess of the place. The weekend was also inundated by large families taking advantage of the attached water park.

Good place to stay but pretty noisy

The motel was nice and the room clean and plenty large. The only drawback was that the walls were SOOOO thin that you heard everything - and I DO mean everything! And then, there were the people in the hall yelling at their kids at 7 am. A little sound proofing would help a lot!

It was all that I would expect. The breakfast and attendant was great. The location of the property could not have bee better.
