Great hotel in great location.
Great access to the main attractions in the center of town. In addition, the hotel is near a metro stop, which makes for easy access to the rest of the city. Its a nice modern hotel with good room service, two restaurants, and a cute bar/pool area. Id definitely stay here again when back in Santiago.
Make sure you check out and eat in La Vega. Its a great, "authentic" local market where you can get amazing seafood at a really cheap price. But, make sure you check it out during daylight hours only. El Mercado Central is also great, but you pay a bit more for the fancier accomodations - still cheap to anyone making conversions from the dollar or euro.

Chilean jewel
In the heart of big-city Santiago, the Galerias is an oasis. Our corner suite was spacious, clean and relaxing. The restaurant is terrific for drinks, dinner, wine; the breakfast spread is generous . If recuperating from a South American adventure with a day or two in Santago, one could scarcely do better than the Galerias, which is kind of like "a big hotel in a small package." Ive now stayed there twice and highly recommend it. Like Chile itself, the place is welcoming and beautiful.

Great central location
If you want a clean, comfortable hotel with friendly staff in the Central area of Santiago where most of the sights are, this is it. Not frequented by many Americans - most of the guests were Europeans. Impeccably clean room and very good restaurant with friendly English-speaking waiter.
Traveler's tip on dining
Avoid Le Due Torri, a Lonely Planet-recommended restaurant nearby with "78 antipasti". None were available on a Wednesday evening and the only fish was farmed tilapia - in Santiago, known for its fresh fish!
