Clean and cheap but poor service

having traveled throughtout Europe economically I was not expecting much from the hotel considering the price. The room was clean and small and the beds were comfortable - enough for me since I was really only there at night to sleep. I was, however, disappointed in the service - a couple of the front desk staff need some refreshers on how to be polite and friendly to customers.

Excellent

It was a clean hotel near the airport and a short bus ride to the city centre. Only complaint is that the heater kicks in after 1930. Other than that a great place with accomodating staff.

Close But TOO MANY Cigars

I ended up selecting this hotel because it was close to the Dublin airport. After staying here I regretted not choosing another. The clerk helping with check-in was not friendly and sent me to park in the underground garage even though it was full. I had to park at the second garage a block away. The only way up was via the ramp and walking outside along the street with my luggage in tow (2 trips). When I got to the lobby all I smelled was cigarettes. When I went to the room floor the smell still permeated everything. Once I got to my room it was worse. When I opened the bathroom door (it would not stay open) the cigarette smell about knocked me over. I guess it had been trapped in there. Ugh! Plus the room was tight/small, nothing like pictured in the photos. Breakfast room service included food that was not that good (eggs undercooked) and they’d forgotten parts of my order.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Only perk was proximity to airport but not enough to outweigh the negatives. Advice, look elsewhere, even if you have to pay more or drive a little further.

good hotel, problems with transportation from airport

I was happy with the hotel per se. However, getting from the airport to the hotel was not smooth. The hotel advertises a free shuttle connecting the airport and the hotel. My flight arrived late in the evening (10:30pm). At the airport, I called the hotel and was told the shuttle had already stopped running for the day, and that I should take the taxi (not free of charge, 15 Euros one way). When I tried taking the taxi, however, the taxi driver refused to take me, because the hotel was too close to the airport. Taxi drivers in Dublin make more money on longer journeys. The driver insisted that there is a shuttle; I explained there is not, but the driver insisted that he would prefer another customer and I had to leave the taxi. Then I walked over to the shuttle area where the attendant confirmed that the shuttles to Days Hotel are no longer running. So I went back to the terminal, and waited in the taxi line the second time. The second taxi driver was reluctant to take me too. They spoke to the taxi dispatcher in Gaelic, very obviously inquiring if they have to take me or not. They eventually did - but the whole incident was not a welcoming experience for somebody arriving in Ireland for the first time.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Expect resistance from the taxi drivers to take you to this hotel, because it is too close to the airport and taxis make more money on other customers. Shuttles stop running in the evening, after which, you might be out of luck.

Not impressed. Dark, back alley style. Missed wake up call.

Not impressed. Taxi driver (from airport) did not know where it was. Dark, alley style hotel with separate entrance for 2 bedroom suites. Very narrow hallways and elevator. Shuttle driver from hotel to airport in the morning very nice and helpful.

Not suitable for families.

Will stay elsewhere next time

We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite, which was pretty much an apartment hooked to the hotel. I was not impressed with it at all. The furniture was hard and outdated and the bedding consisted of a bottom sheet and comforter...nothing else! It served our purpose as we were out touring most of the week, but after a long exhausting day it would have been nice to come home to a better environment. We learned on our first day the bus stop is located right in front of a methadone clinic and across the street there was "questionable housing"...in which we got to see what appeared to be "illegal transactions". This was all common knowledge to other bus riders and even one of the bus drivers who warned us to hurry back to our hotel at the end of the day. Needless to say I didn’t feel too safe, especially with 2 small children. I guess it’s not something the hotel would want advertised in their brochures, but I feel the need to warn possible future guests of the hotel. Don’t expect a beautiful room or view and you’d probably be better off getting something closer to the city center if you’re planning on staying in Dublin. I definitely don’t recommend this hotel and will be staying elsewhere if we ever go back to Dublin.

If planning to stay in Dublin, get a hotel closer to the city center for easier access. The River Liffey tour isn’t all that great. The hop on/hop off bus tour are wonderful investments!!!

just acceptable

The hotel is a low end destination that is only of service for a quick in and out from the airport. They did offer a shuttle service which was useful.

for a budget hotel, it is pretty good with free internet access

All in all, the hotel is fine. One of the directions the hotel gave was a shopping center direction, but, that area was really run down. They should not even have that shopping center given to the hotel guests. We drove there as we have a car. If you don’t have a car and it is a 15 minute walk, it would be a waste of time.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

close to the airport with free shuttle service. Free parking if you have a rental car. Free internet access in the room if you have your lap top.

Very Satisfied

I found the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful. The location was convenient to the airport and a bus stop that took me into Dublin which was what I was looking for. My only comment would be to mention to guests about putting your room key into the box that allows the lights to work. I had never seen this before.

Good location near the airport

A generally decent place. Rooms a bit small, but clean. Staff was very courteous and helpful. The breakfast ( not included) was disappointing

If you need a place to stay nearby the airport, and dont mind a small room, this is a good choice

Probably not the best choice

Started off by having to wait in such a long line for the shuttle that we finally took a cab to the hotel (was told it might take forty minutes). Upon arrival, staff were very friendly; however, the rooms were warm and very noisy (facing a street). There really isn’t much in the area, but a bus stop to go downtown. We stayed there again upon departure, and it was better. However, the lights in the room threw a circuit breaker (at 5 AM), and no, we weren’t using any of the wrong kinds of appliances. However, the staff at front were very accommodating and helpful.

Only use this hotel if you want nothing more than a night’s sleep either after a long flight or before one.

Ok, but not the best

The hotel is not in the best area of Dublin. There is a huge abandoned public housing project across the street that had some questionable locals loitering. However, it was convenient to the airport, and was very clean. Request a room that doesn’t face Ballymun road as these rooms are very noisy due to traffic.

Very considerate and helpful

We had to go to the hotel, before our stay, in order to ask them to hold some luggage for us for 4 days, while we took a short trip to Scotland. They were very considerate and eager to help. When we returned our luggage was there safe and sound. The shuttle they provide for getting to and from the airport was also greatly appreciated.

Great for flying

We stayed at this hotel the night before we flew out of Dublin. We had to drop our rental car off at the airport, so we were going to take the hotel shuttle from the airport to the hotel for that night. We had to wait about 30 minutes for the shuttle to show up. The hotel itself was nice. Not anything extra, but it was clean. The restaurant downstairs was a little expensive, but pretty good. And the next morning the shuttle took us straight to the airport. We just had to tell them what time we needed to leave. Overall I was very satisfied.

Good Choice

The hotel was just fine. Clean and comfortable. It was close to the airport, but it required getting onto a major highway and traveling to the next exit. Parking was somewhat limited.

Nice Hotel

This hotel is a little far out, 10 to 15 minutes from airport in Apartment residential neighborhood. 1 block walk to the bus, but hotel is exceptional quality, staff is very helpful. Rooms are very new and clean. I would definately recommend this hotel

Okay Hotel

We stayed at this hotel a year and a half ago when it was brand new, and it certainly has deteriorated since then. Upkeep and cleanliness were fine, and it’s a convenient shuttle ride to the airport, but the front desk person was pretty sullen and not exactly welcoming when she didn’t even look up to acknowledge as she took a phone call after we walked up to the desk. The food in the restaurant was OK, but certainly nothing extraordinary.

Great find near the airport!

This Days Hotel is very clean and has a great bar and restaurant. We had an extremely pleasant waiter despite the late hour that we arrived. Our standard double room was small and a little cramped. But the bed was very comfortable and that’s all we really wanted for the night. I would definitely go back.

Very Nice

I was very satisfied with the hotel. I arrived at the airport a few hours earlier than I was supposed to check into the hotel. I called them from the courtesy phone and they said it would be no problem. They have a shuttle that runs from the hotel to the airport free of charge. The very pretty receptionist lady was kind of rude, but everyone else was really nice. The hotel is located about a 20 minute bus ride from the city and there are 2 stops within a 3 minute walking distance or a cab would cost about 15 euros.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

At the airport you can purchase a card that allows you to ride all the busses in dublin. It is very cheap something like 11 euros and you can get it for 3,4 or 5 days. You can also charge a tour to it for extra money. If you are partying it is helpful because Dublin offers something called "night link" and you can use the card instead of wasting money on a cab. Just don’t fall asleep on the last bus like it did.

Near the Airport and Helix Theater

My first time to Dublin and needed close stay to go the Helix theater. Is close to bus stop though in area going through re-developement. Has shuttle service to and from airport. The bus service is really good and about 10-15 mins to the City Centre. The room I had the windows that didn’t close all the way and can hear outside noise so hard to sleep. Other than that if just need a basic stay without gym and pool. The staff is nice and restauarant is good price.

Great Airport Hotel

This is a great hotel for people needing to stay near the Dublin airport. We just stayed for a night and caught the shuttle in the morning. Everything was new, clean and bright. one of the most comfortable beds we slept in on our whole trip. It is NOT near all the sights of Dublin, and there really isn’t anything to do nearby, but was perfect for our needs.
