extremely nice hotel; appears to be brand new.....
This hotel appears to be brand new or it is extremely well taken care of. The lobby is very nice with comfortable seating should folks wish to be there vs. their room. The continental breakfast space is also large, clean and has all anyone needs for breakfast. Our room was a nice size, well decorated and very comfortable. In addition to the necessities, there is also a very clean pool and whirlpool to enjoy.
If you go to this area, I would recommend that you visit some of the distilleries on the Bourbon Trail. Very interesting.

Room more than we expected; staff very helpful
Our luggage didn’t make it to Louisville on our very late arrival. The young man at the front desk, upon hearing our plight, quickly put together a couple of "ditty bags" to get us through until the next morning with toothpaste/brushes, combs, shaving cream/razor, etc. His helpfulness set the tone for the rest of our stay. We wish we would have had a couple more nights here!

For some tasty eats in a wacky atmosphere, go to Lynn’s Paradise Cafe --- Good food among funky fun!

Modern hotel in Jeffersontown
The Wingate is a modern, handosme hotel. Our room was a handicapped room, so it may not be typical, but was large and well-appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The TV was an old-fashioned tube-type, not a flat screen. The inlcuded breakfast was fine. I found the pool too chilly, and the hot tub more of a warm-tub. Front desk staff were OK, unremarkable. Overall, it was an excellent value on Expedia. We’ll return.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
If you like rhythm and blues and soul, try going on weekends to hear Jerry Green at the Breckinridge Inn in St. Matthews, or one of the bands that appears in the bar area of the upscale Jeff Ruby’s downtown.
