Fantastic hotel, be sure to get off at the Ercolano Scavi train stop!
Newly renovated and beautiful hotel, a short walk to the Herculanum excavation. Huge rooms and excellent Jacuzzi in giant bathroom. Not too glamorous of a town, but not too bad either. For the love of God, be sure to take the first Ercolano train stop if you are arriving on the Circumvesuvia (Ercolano Scavi)the hotel is just a few blocks downhill and to the left of the station. The second stop is taged "Migli DOro", but that is the community, NOT the hotel... it drops you off in a dark ghetto of government housing over a kilometer from the hotel, a great place to get robbed, killed, or both! (Actually, Italy has very little violent crime, but beware of teenaged bag snatchers on mopeds.) We found a very nice local lady that had her teenage kids escort us to the hotel.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Very close to the Excavations at Herculanum, and a short train ride to Pompeii. Be sure to go to Naples and have pizza at Da Michelle Pizzaria!

Diamond in a rough area
If you are going to Ercolano to see the ruins, this hotel is only .2 miles from the entrance. The walk there is through a rather run down part of town, which makes the service, amenities, and dining all the more remarkable in this hotel. The garden behind is lovely as well. We had a view of the sea and enjoyed the complimentary beverages in the rooms refrigerator. Relaxing in the whirlpool tub was a great way to sooth our feet after exploring Herculaneum.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Be sure to get the combined ticket for Herculaneum and Pompei. It is good for 3 days and saves you a few euros.
