A small and cozy hotel with a great experience
First time for me and my wife to stay in a hotel like this. Used to stay in all those big names with similar services and look alike rooms. But Avila La Fonda hotel is quite different. Cozy lobby, with a small library and hundred of DVDs. A pantry in the lobby provides free fruit and coffee/tea. Though no restaurants in hotel, they can recommend several good ones around. The room is great with kitchen. The only problem is i don’t know how to turn off the fireplace, made the room really hot. I took "notting hill" from downstairs and watched it with my wife in room, and, for free! Really like to come back again!

Absolutely wonderful
This hotel was perfect for a romantic getaway! The staff was excellent about making you feel at home and ensuring you had everything you needed. There are so many wonderful things to share about this hotel. The check in process was very quick, the complimentary snacks within the room were a nice touch, the plush bathroom rug felt wonderful under our feet, the fireplace was easy to use, having glasses, dishes and utensils was perfect for our evening snack and morning coffee and muffin. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone that appreciates peace and quiet along with wonderful amenities.
The Custom House was recommended but we didn’t find the level of service we expected for a restaurant with the menu prices it had. The wait was longer than we were told and other couples who clearly arrived after we did were being seated before us. The food was excellent BUT I’m a believer in the service level being a large part of the experience and they received a failing grade from me. It didn’t help that the hostesses completely lacked professionalism and class. They were yawning without covering their mouths, walking around in heels clearly too high for them and their dresses didn’t leave much to the imagination. Frankly, I don’t feel that seeing a young woman’s thong through her dress is particularly appealing. :(
