Cheap but not Cheap!
My wife and I spent three days in this hotel mid September and the weather was sunny and hot. Rooms* are over-sized and comfortable but very old. Water takes time to heat up so you might spend some time in the bathtub before it gets there, if you are on the third floor (I recommend third, because of the view!). No air-conditioning, some rooms have fridge, some don’t, and TV set is size of my GPS! Very small breakfast (a bun and croissant, coffee and milk or tea, some cheese, cornflakes and fruit yogurts...), so you might end up eating sooner then expected. But I must say, that receptionists were all very helpful and grateful after a small tip. *room that we first got is equipped for people with disabilities, so it is good to know that they have one.

If you are staying in Sanremo for just a few days, and plan to be out most of the time, this is the place to go!

Piece of old Italy
Neat old Villa. Feels like walking through someone’s family home. Not modern. Charming older furniture, but everything was very clean. Crisp linens, etc.

Satisfactory hotel
The hotel feels like a combination of two or more different buildings, with some transition areas to make them seem less distinct. Some of the living areas felt like no one had been in them for decades - and a great game room wasn’t pointed out to us for use until we were leaving. The staff was cordial, but more often than not, ignored us. They also proved unhelpful in our quest for directions. The room was clean, but nothing memorable. Overall, a satisfactory experience, but we would not go back.

A Shabby stay
Not impressed. This hotel looked like the perfect place to film a horror flick. The shower head was broken, the bath towels were flimsy, the tv screen was like 5 inches wide, and everything was creeky. This place needs a renovation. Also, one morning one of the hotel attendants didn’t even knock and just unlocked the door and swung it open... I said HELLO? and he closed it and left.

Our favorite place to stay in San Remo
This is our 3rd stay here and definitely not the last one. We absolutely love this place. San Remo is incredible and Hotel Villa Maria makes our visits even more special. First of all, the hotel staff is excellent. You will be staying at a classic villa turned hotel owned by an archdiocese complete with majestic feel, many gorgeous lounges and antique furnishings and breathtaking religious oil paintings. There is also a detached religious chapel on the premises with daily services. The rooms have original furnishings, high ceilings and generous armoire wardrobes. The hotel restaurant serves exquisite food, including generously-sized breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will be greeted at the reception desk. There is always someone there 24 hours a day. The staff is extremely attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and anticipating your needs. If you want ice, you will get ice. If you want tips on where to go for a nice dinner nearby, the hotel staff will recommend 3 or 4 excellent restaurants. That is how we found amazing local eateries with delicious specialties. We cannot say enough good things about Hotel Villa Maria. For us it is like going home to see our special friends again. Grazzie mille!!!! Thomas and Daria

It is a very good located hotel, the price comparing to the other town options are very reasonable
It is a very good located hotel, the price comparing to the other town options are very reasonable. The condition of the rooms are terrible also the idea of using that old mansion appearance is a grate idea. For the owners, please, spend some money on repairing the wooden floor and bathrooms. We will enjoy visiting again in summer time hope the prices will keep reasonable.
