Always have enjoyed the Drake

The Drake always provides a very friendly enviorment, which is always appreciated when I have been traveling all day. The last thing I want is a hassle at check in or an attitude from staff. The Drake makes a weary traveler welcomed.

Best hotel bed I ever slept in....

Not only is it a beautiful hotel with a gracious staff, the bed, pillows and bedding were fabulous! We took the information off the bed pillows so we could order them once we got home. We found out that the pillows are made exclusively for this Hilton owned Hotel. We have them now at home and they are awesome. The restuarants and coffee cafe in the hotel are great as well. We had the best experience! Will defintely stay again!

Excellent Hotel

Both my husband and I were very pleased with the service, food and accommodations especially that the hotel gave us early entry 11:00 a.m. to the room when it became available instead of 3:00 p.m. We were extremely tired and had asked for early access for early access if a room became available. We would definitely stay at the Drake again.

Absolutely loved it!

We commented to each other about the courteousness and helpfulness of everyone at the hotel. The bed was so comfortable and the linens were luxurious. We felt very special while staying at this beautiful hote.

CoCo Pazzo Italian Restaurant was excellent only a few blocks from Drake Hotel.

Great Weekend

We really enjoyed The Drake Hotel and all it’s services. Loved how close it was to shopping, restaurants and parks.

Downside to non-cancellable rates

I booked a room for 3 nights at the Drake taking advantage of the lower rates for non-cancellable reservations. The downside of this is that you don’t have much leverage when you are given a smallish room looking out on the air cooling unit. The Drake is a strange combination of elegant and shabby. I think you can do much better for the price.

Internet service is extremely expensive. Competitors offer it for free. Even lobby wireless requires a paid subscription. The Westin across the street offers it for free. Guess where I spent my time.

Location, location, location!!

A Great Classic Hotel

I felt like I went back in time to a great place to be. One evening there was a swing band with some great dancers which were great to watch. The accomodations were great! It was a great experience and I would love to go back. The restaurant, The Cape Cod was unbelieveable! The Coq bar was very warm and fun. The only observation I would make is that with a hotel of this caliber, the service was not quite as I would expect. The waitress in the tea room was not very friendly and there were some other small points that were noticed. However, overall, great experience.

Outstanding

We always wanted to go to the Drake because of its historical appeal. We were very impressed with the service and the beautiful lobby and rooms. It was fascinating to see pictures around the hotel of people who used to frequent or visit the hotel from Al Capone to Lady Di. And the convenience of its location right there on Michigan Avenue. It is a pleasant walk up the avenue to different restaurants and great shopping.

Absolutely Beautiful! Will definitely stay there next time in Chicago!

I met several friends in Chicago for a "Girl’s Weekend". We had never stayed at The Drake, but it was highly recommended. It was more than we cold have ever expected! The hotel itself was exquisite, the service was beyond excellent and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had a wonderful time and we will definitely return next year!

Aging and shabby

The furniture in my room was nicked all over, there was no ottoman. No newspaper was delivered, no TV channel guide, no hotel restaurant menus in the room. An early check-in fee was charged, even though the room was ready. Bathroom cleaning was superficial. At 3pm one day, the room had still not been madeup. This used to be a splendid hotel. I won’t go back.

A wonderful stay. The "soaking tub" is not what it is billed for and that was a huge reason for the decision to stay at this hotel, so I was disappointed in that. Overall, it was a great hotel and the staff was wonderful.

Drake is a great location for Chicago vacation.

The concierge service was outstanding. Their advice was excellent, and the bookings fit our needs perfectly. The location allows easy walking to tourist sites, restaurants etc.I recommend the Drake.

Visit the Chicago Architectural Institute for fabulous tours etc. Definitely take the architectural river tour. Second City is fun. The view from the Shedd Aquarium is breathtaking.

Comfort but at a cost

we enjoyed our stay in Chicago over Easter. The room was very spacious and staff very helpful. Parking was ridiculous at $50 a day/

Gino’s east for pizza Prohakaba(?) for Polish food excellent.

Wonderful hotel

Stayed in a lakeview room that had a great view. The room was quiet and very comfortable, the staff friendly and efficient, and tea in the Palm Court a nice treat. The only negative was the breakfast in the executive lounge was so-so and the extra cost for wine/alcoholic beverages in the evening in the executive lounge was pricey for what you get. Otherwise a great place to stay and will definitely return.

Drake Hotel Chicago doesn’t live up to they hype

This was the second time I stayed at the Drake, the most previous I was incorrectly billed for items not purchased. I wanted to give this historic hotel another chance. From the rude bell service to waiting 45 minutes for my bags to be delivered to my room to the slow check in process I was overall not pleased with my stay. The atmosphere was not welcoming because of the staff. The hotel does have charm however, this charm takes a back seat when you don’t feel welcome to the hotel. I believe we all are hurting in this economy and the hotel was charging less for rooms then in the past, but obviously they have cut service levels in order to do so.

we really enjoyed our stay at the Drake! when they didn’t have any king rooms available they upgraded us to a queen deluxe room with a city view which was even better! the concierge was very helpful and the staff was very attentive.

Billy Goat Tavern is just a few blocks away and has some of the best burgers in town. This place is a must-see if you are a cubs fan! lots of history with Wrigley Field!

Not as nice as it was 4 years ago.

I like to stay at hotels with excutive floors.The perts of the Excutive Club is not worth the exta money.You have to pay for the alcohol and beer. The appetizers aren’t as nice as they use to be. The breakfast is nothing special.The club isn’t as clean as it use to be. I was totally disappointed.The staff is still excellent in the club.The staff at the front desk is fabulous.

There was a snow storm in New York

and my flight was more than 3 hours delayed, meaning I would arrive at the hotel at 2 am. I ahd booked both the airtickets and the hotel through Expedia, so I called up and asked that my flight and my hotel booking be moved to the next day. The Hotel did not accept that and went ahead and charged my for my stay, despite the fact that I arrived the next day. I found this simply unacceptable.
