Hidden surprise
Everything in Paris was booked with spring breakers when our 6 grandkids and their parents came to visit for a week. Since we planned to visit Disney one day, I tried the Disney area. This place came up at an unbelievable price. We rented two cottages and were so surprised. These are like vacation condos in the French countryside with kitchen, dish and clothes washers, places to sleep upstairs and downstairs, shutters to open and shut, which delighted the kids. Dont expect an American layout. The toilet is downstairs and the tub and sink are upstairs. You have to sign up for breakfast a day in advance but the village center is just a short walk away with a wonderful bakery, a store with veggies, fruits, cheeses for breakfasts and supplies for packing lunches. Also a local pizza place. The bakery opens at 6 or 7, the store at 8 so the family hunter and gatherers can get fresh supplies while the family sleeps. The store is open late. The biggest problem is their strange office hours for checking in, they vary every day and if you cant make it by the posted time for the day, they are locked up tight. They also need instructions in English on how to use their washing machine and dishwasher. The icons on the buttons made no sense. You can get a packet with soaps and cleaning supplies at the office.
We came by train. Its about 40 minutes east of Paris on the RER A line to Chessy (the Disney station). Take pink bus 34 on the far side of the bus area to the stop "Cle des Champs", at the front gate of the hotel complex. You pay the driver the euro or so. For the days not at Disney get Paris Visite cards valid for 6 zones. The RER A line goes right to the center of Paris. At late night and weekends the bus schedule is reduced. Great place if your group plans include Disney.
