You get what you pay for
From the moment we checked in early at 8am to the moment we checked out from this hotel we were treated splendidly. Not once during our 2 night stay did we have any problems and we frequently used the concierge services where the employees were kind and helpful. This hotel is top-notch, but at the same time is no bargain. At one time our room keys stopped working, but reception replaced them for us right away. We had a deluxe bund view and i thought it was one of the nicest views ive ever had from a hotel room - definitely worth the extra money. If this hotel fits within your budget, you wont be disappointed here.

Great location
Great location. Ask for a Bund view room so it faces Puding. We had breakfast in the club and it was worth it. Right on the shopping street. Pizza Hut and McDonalds right there.

An impressive disappointment
Going by appearance alone, this hotel is stunning! Modern, beautiful, conveniently located and with just about every amenity one would expect to find in a first class hotel. Unfortunately for a couple used to American-style hotels, the hotel turned out to be mostly "show" and not much "go". The bath facilities in the room were not private and were awkward to use. In our particular room, the handle to open the tub drain broke so we had to call service late at night to drain the tub. The beds were reasonably comfortable, but the huge, pillows which looked so inviting on the made bed were actually unmanageable as sleeping pillows. The tap water was undrinkable, and only a very little bottled water was made available for free. The wet bar drinks and bottled water were very expensive. The one restaurant we ate at (Bistro?) served inviting looking but truly mediocre food that was very expensive ($60 for a dinner buffet). We stayed only 1 night. That was enough. The hotel is worth seeing, but I would not recommend staying there for long.
