A memorable and luxurious retreat
We were picked up at the train station by the owner, because no taxis were available. She and all staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished from a dilapidated old estate into a very tasteful bed and breakfast. Our room was extremely comfortable; the bed pillows are heavenly. The house wines, especially the white, are delicious and reasonably priced. Dinner was delicious. Don’t miss the chocolate cake. The breakfast buffet was also delicious with wonderful bread and yoghurt. We enjoyed drinking wine in the gardens and smoking a cigar in the bar. (The rest of the building seems to be no-smoking, which is good.) Overall, highly recommended.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Come early for a bottle of wine before sunset and dinner. Enjoy the 7,000 sq. m grounds with a glass of wine on the lawn furniture. Take a walk around the neighborhood before dinner; there are many beautiful homes around and a lovely church not too far away.
