Never again
Following a massive day of travel half way across the world, we were looking forward to checking into our hotel & grabbing a bite to eat from the restaurant. The room was adequate but it was disappointing to find that the airconditioning unit had leaked all over one side of the hotel room floor. As the hotel was fully booked, no other rooms were available. The best thing about the room was the bed but we were hungry so headed downstairs to order some take out from the restaurant. The person in charge of the restaurant was rude & it took over an hour to give us our nasty deep fried order - something that would take no more than 10 minutes in any other restaurant. There was no apology or excuse for the delay either but at least the bar lady was pleasant. We double checked with the concierge the next day that the shuttles to JFK did leave every 30 minutes so we made sure we were waiting in the hotel lobby 20 minutes prior to the next shuttle departure time. This was the most badly managed aspect of the hotel as the shuttle didnt turn up for another hour & after a larger shuttle was arranged to transport all the waiting hotel guests, it was found to have a flat tyre. By this stage we were contemplating getting off the bus & ordering a taxi but we did actually manage to get to the airport. Luckily our flight was delayed for over an hour so we had enough time to check in & go through security. I will NEVER stay at this shabby, poorly run hotel again.

Terrible one night stay
We have used this hotel a few times before when traveling from JFK. It was preferable to spend the extra money to avoid driving in from CT. for early morning flights and we purchase the Parking plan in order to leave the car till we return. This trip we had to argue with the front desk about our pre-paid parking which he finally accepted. We ate dinner in the hotel, the food was terrible especially for the price,$32.00 for a small steak, drinks at the bar were also expensive. ($11. for a Martini?) Our room on the 3rd floor was fine except that the air conditioner would only blow warm air, was very noisy and we couldnt get anyone to come up and fix it after 10:pm So sleep was "impossible". Our 5:30 wake up call never came luckily my wife set her watch as a back up. We missed the 6:am Shuttle to the airport. The front desk wasnt interested in our complaints. In the future well try to book our trips from Hartford or Providence and avoid NYC, JFK and the Doubletree whenever possible..It would be nice if Expedia would offer some type of compensation as well.

THE place to stay on your JFK layover
We had 24 hour layover coming back from South Africa - arrived at 7:30 am. large, comfortable, clean room - beds really comfy- bathroom clean; towels fluffy - very simple shuttle system to & from JFK
