Beautiful Hotel in Great Location

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The view from our room’s balcony was breathtaking. The room was large and comfortable. The only quirk (and it may have been particular to our room only) was that it wasn’t possible to stand up in the bathtub to take a shower. Also worth mentioning is that the church across the street rings it’s bell from around 7:00am to 10:00pm at night which might be an annoyance for those who go to sleep early or wake up late (not really a problem for us). We were told that the hotel would be starting an expansion/renovation construction project this winter, so check the status of this project before booking.

Views from our room was stunning. Restaurant was closed for remodeling so we always had to walk a few steps to get something to eat. Front-desk service was excellent.

What a view!

Great location, views looking out at the Eiger. Only a 10 minute walk to the train station. Staff very friendly and professional. Room appeared new and very clean. Great breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

Stunning Location

The hotel was not at all fancy and the furnishings reminded me of the sixties but everything was clean and comfortable and the view from the window was amazing. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable but the avacado green bathroom fixtures were a tad dated. Every part of town was within walking distance and the staff was very helpful. The price was very reasonable and we absolutly would recomend this hotel to anyone on a budget.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We could put on our ski boots in the room and walk to the gondola on first mountain or the ski bus stopped right at the front door of the hotel to take us to the other mountains. In the summer you could take the bus from the front door to hike on the glaciers that we could see from our room.

Quick ski trip

Wonderful hotel situated just a short walk from the restaurants, bars, shops and First ski lift. We arrived by train. Even though there is a bus stop there, we optioned to walk to the hotel, about a 10-15 minute trip. The hotel was cozy and just what you would expect from a mountain chalet. The view from our room, as with most of the other rooms in the hotel, was priceless! A great time indeed...

Medium price, high quality

We stayed here in September. Since it was the low season, the restaurant was closed, but for the price, this is a very nice, clean and comfortable hotel. Most rooms have balconies with lounge chairs and spectacular views. There are a number good restaurants within walking distance. For great pizza at a good price, try "Oncl Toms Hutte" just down the hill and across the street.

Highly recommended

The hotel is a little bit far from the train station. We did not take a bus so it took us 15 mins to walk up there. If you take the bus you can get off right in front of the hotel. The view out of the window is very impressive. We got the room on the top, very spaciou and also has a patio.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

It is close to the Gondola to First. First has several good hikes, do not miss it. You can get brochure about First in the hotel or from the information center.

Very Nice location

My Wife and I really enjoyed this hotel. Althought on the outskirts of Grindelwald, it was only a ten miniute walk from the train station. Highly recommened this location. Beautiful views from the balconies!
