Needs and update

The Disneyland hotel is in desperate need of an overhall and new cleaning staff. The bathroom had mold in the shower and generally did not feel clean. The room seemed not to have been dusted in quite some time. I will not stay there again until the remodel and might think twice. We will wait extra time to save money to stay at the Grand Ca. The service was exceptional the lobby was adorable and location was great! On the positive side!

The original Disneyland Hotel

I always love staying at the Disneyland Hotel. It’s the home base for many "happiest place on earth" memories. We dined in the steak house for the first time. The food was excellent, but the pictures of past guests on every wall is trully amazing. It was the whos who in the entertaiment industry from the last 50+ years. Just being in this historic room has a special feeling.

Disney Magic

As usual, you can’t beat the comfort and proximity to the Parks. Our first time at the Dream Wing put us a little further from the action. This wing of D.H. seems like it could use some freshening up. It would be great if the parking lot right behind the Dream Hotel Wing was larger to accommodate more autos. We had to leave each day, to meet family obligations, and had a good long walk to reach our car at the front of the Hotel. Each cast member is outstanding! Our Granddaughters love the Peter Pan Pool. We watched the numerous life guards perform their duties in an outstanding manner. All in all, it was another Magical Stay!

Convenient

It was my first stay at the Disneyland Hotel. The hotel is showing its age, but the staff are "Disney" friendly and helpful. Because we were only there for one night for my 4-year old’s birthday, it was very convenient for early arrival the next morning at the park. She really liked the kiddie pool, and the character breakfast. The convenience can’t be beat for the rate, but I would recommend The Grand Californian for longer stays.

Happy - would go back

Was very happy with the service, view, cleanliness of the room and hotel. There was some construction but it was minimized to the best of their ability. The couch in the sitting area had seen better days as it clearly had a lot of use. The hotel is next to downtown Disney and our room faced it - great view but a little loud with the music at night - it does shut off but with little ones, it’s something to be cognizant about. Additionally, it took about 15/20 min to get to the hotel from the theme parks - something else to think about when planning around the schedule of a little person.

FILTHY DISNEYLAND HOTEL

FOR A HOTEL THAT CATERS TO CHILDREN THEY SURE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT IT’S CLEANLINESS. OUR ROOM APPEARED CLEAN BUT THE BATHROOM HAD NOT BEEN MOPPED IN YEARS AS EVIDENT BY WHITE SPECKS ON THE FLOOR AND THE TUB HAD A THICK LAYER OF DIRT AND SCUM BOTH INSIDE AND OUT. THE CARPET IN THE ROOM HAS NEVER SEEN SOAP AND WATER AS EVIDENT BY THE LACK OF COLOR...IT WAS GREY. THE HOTEL STAFF ALSO COULD HAVE CARED LESS FOR THE LACK OF INTEREST IN MY COMPLAINT BOTH WHILE STAYING AT THE HOTEL AND WHEN I CALLED THEIR TOLL FREE NUMBER. THE WHOLE TIME WE STAYED THERE NONE OF US WALKED BAREFOOT IN THE ROOM AT ALL.....DISGUSTING.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

IF YOU ARE GOING TO STAY AT THE DISNEYLAND RESORT THEN SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND STAY AT GRAND AMERICA OR DON’T BOTHER AT ALL. THERE ARE SEVERAL NICE HOTELS WITH IN WALKING/DRIVING DISTANCE IE SHERATON OR DOUBLE TREE THAT WOULD BE A MUCH BETTER PLACE TO REST YOUR TIRED BODY AFTER A LONG DAY OF RIDES.

Great Location and Friendly service

Six of us (4 adults and 2 children (5 & 7)stayed for two nights. We had a great time as the location and setting was first class, a short walk to either Disneyland Park or Disneyland Adventure Park. There was plenty of room in the suite we had, bedroom with 2 queens and a pull out sofa bed in the living area. All the staff we had contact with were extremley friendly and helpful. Expensive but worth every cent just for the experience. Kids absolutely loved it.

Great location 10 min walk to Disneyland past loads of shops

Disneyland Hotel

It was probably our 5th or 6th stay at the DLH. After staying last year at the Grand Californian, returning to the DLH was a bit of a letdown especially since we had to stay in the Wonder Tower, which is all the way across the other side of the pool and courtyard from the main building. Still and all it was a nice, clean comfortable stay as always.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

if you rent a car, there are several fast food and family style dining options close by...it will save you a few bucks as the Downtown Disney restaurants and restaurants at the parks can ring up some pretty substantial totals for a family of four or five.

Enchanted? Not so much

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for my 4 year old son’s first trip to Disneyland. It is very obvious they do not hold the hotel to the same standards as they do the park. The vent in the bathroom and outside the bathroom was caked with dirt, the wallpaper border was peeling. The room looked like it had not been updated in a decade. I felt like we got 2 star service and accomodations for a 5 star price. I don’t know what I expected, but I thought we would get some kind of perk or experience some "magic or enchantment" other than one early entry day into the park. It was very disappointing.

Traveler's tip on dining

Food was VERY expensive $3 for a bottle of water, the food on campus and at the park was expensive and tasted awful. One of the best meals we had was for $19 at the Jazz Kitchen 2 good size, fresh burgers and a kids meal.

Beautiful Grounds, Great Location

The room was way bigger than expected, so the visit started off well. The location is perfect being close to Downtown Disney, the parks, etc., however, it feels secluded enough comfortably enjoy oneself. The pools are both excellent, and have a different atmosphere from each other. The Lost Bar is an excellent place to unwind each night and discuss the fun events of the day. We loved the hotel and would return in a heartbeat.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Be sure to take a look at the fountains by the Wonder Tower if you’re not staying in that tower. Also, "The Lost Bar" has exceptional Long Island Iced Teas.

Dream Come True!

I have always wanted to stay at the Disneyland Hotel since I was a little girl. This summer I finally had the chance to and it did not disappoint! We arrived early but there was no problem checking in before the scheduled time. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful! The concierge even printed our boarding passes for our return trip and offered to bring them to our room! I don’t have to tell you how convenient it was to get into the parks...so close and we were able to utilize the private entrance into California Adventure through the Grand Californian Hotel! The room was perfect and we loved all of the Disney touches...especially the glow-in-the-dark Tinker Bell wallpaper border! We were sorry to have to come back home!!

Take the Monorail to and from Disneyland instead of using the main entrance to save time and avoid the lines!

The kids loved it!

This is a fun hotel. The kids loved the slides at the pool. There is a small one that our 3 year old liked and a large one for our 7 year old. The hotel was dated as everyone says but it was extremely clean. We did not pay extra for the pool view and it turned out to be a blessing because the supposed non view rooms have front row seats to Disneylands summer fireworks...the kids loved it!

It Makes the Disneyland Experience

We had a fantastic time at the Disneyland Hotel. I was completely charmed talking with hotel staff about when we could see the characters ("Oh, no, Pooh doesn’t eat breakfast--he likes to sleep late.", etc.). They were totally accommodating when I told them I needed 15 pillows so I could sleep sitting up on the couch--and the pillows were there when we arrived. Service was outstanding. The hotel was clean and nice, not fabulous, but the location and amenities such as the pool and proximity to Downtown Disney, and access to the monorail and good restaurants couldn’t be beat for a trip with kids. We will definitely stay at a Disney hotel next time we go to Disneyland. And my son will probably insist we make it next summer. It seemed expensive, but after we got there I realized what a great value it was. We had a really good time.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Make reservations at Goofy’s Kitchen and Minnie’s Breakfast before you leave. The character breakfasts are popular and these visits with the characters will be the highlight of the trip for your young child. Also, bring glowsticks to the park for your child to wear at night and at the Blue Bayou restaurant.

A Magical Experience

While expensive the cost is well worth it. It was so easy to take a break from the park and then come back rested and ready to go again. We stayed in the Wonder Tower which featured a beautiful waterfall and neat walkways around and through it. It will be very hard to stay anywhere else in the future. A character breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen capped a perfect vacation for us.

Will definitely go back

This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and we love it each time. The kids love the pool. Our room was well maintained. The front desk accomodated our request to have a pool view. We love the Disney theme decor.

Decent hotel in a great location

For the price, you’d expect the room to be a little less dated (and the pullout sofa was aweful) but clearly you’re paying for the great location, right in Downtown Disney. Great pool as well, for kids of all ages, and decent dining with a nice character breakfast. Overall experience is worth it.

Still a very charming hotel.

It has been a few years since we last stayed at the hotel. It was for the most part just as we had remembered it, although it seemed a bit more dated and worn down. Still very charming throughout, with nice little Disney touches. We loved it and will be back the next time.

loved it

We were greeted by very nice knowledgeable staff. Our room was clean. View was beautiful. Within walking distance of everything. There were very nice restaurants on the grounds. Pool was clean heated and staff was always picking up and offering towels. I would go back just to stay at the hotel.

Take a light jacket.

A great deal

Got to stay at the Disneyland Hotel for an incredible discount -- Disney’s own website would have charged me $150 more a night than Expedia’s cost. Makes you wonder just what kind of a markup/rate of return the house of mouse was getting during stronger economic times.

Nice

The hotel was nice. But you are definitely going to pay more for a Disney hotel because it is connected to everything. If you don’t care about that you can get a room just as nice for much cheaper somewhere in the area.

Fun & Friendly

We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, and overall, the hotel was perfect for the kids, and convenient for the adults. I loved being able to charge things to my room, and being able to send the things we bought at Disneyland to the hotel. The kids loved the Neverland Pool, and I must admit this was one of the highlights of our trip. We will definitely stay here again!

Great Hotel

We were there with our 2 year old. The location was great to be able to come back to the room and take naps and then go back out to the parks. Although the hotel is older I think they have done a good job to keep it up. We would definitely stay there again.

June 09 1 week Disneyland Hotel stay

The Disneyland hotel is located in very convenient location to the Disneyland resort. If you’re going to the Disneyland park it’s just a short walk to the Monorail to get into the park. Make sure to pick up your tickets before hand otherwise you will need to walk to the main park entrance which is a little further. The room was clean but not as nice as I expected. The pool at the hotel was great, my children enjoyed the pool area very much during out stay there. Having the hotel a short distance we were able to take short rest form the two amusement parks and head back again later in the evening.

For families with young children don’t miss Goofy’s kitchen located at the Disneyland Hotel and the Pirate Dinner Adventure located approx. 15 minutes from the resort. My children enjoyed both places and they both provided lots of opportunities of pictures of kids with the characters.
