Pretty good value for Maldives
My husband and I stayed at Komandoo for a week on our honeymoon. The island is small and quiet- no children, all adults (mostly couples), which suited us fine. Our villa was very nice. We enjoyed the scuba diving and massages at the spa. The food was above average, with a good variety available at each meal. Our only complaints were that I would have liked more activity options (or at least a gym) and that we would have enjoyed a greater variety of scuba dives (every dive was basically a wall/reef dive). Still, this resort is an excellent value for the very expensive Maldives, and I would recommend it.

Wonderful Honeymoon!
After traveling through Asia for a month, Komandoo was a wonderful end to our trip. The staff was friendly and attentive (we missed lunch the day we arrived and they sent sandwiches to our room immediately). The island was beautiful and well maintained (there was always someone sweeping the sand). We really enjoyed the food, which was one of my main concerns since often all inclusive buffets can be quite terrible. My husband did a lot of scuba diving and said the dive center was top notch and very professional. I did a lot of snorkeling off the house reef and was very impressed with the diversity of wildlife (although neither of us saw any big fish/sharks, not sure if it was the season or perhaps fishing). This is not the place for you if you are looking for a wild party scene, tons of activities, 30 restaurants to choose from, etc. It was almost exclusively couples and had a very low key, chill atmosphere. Overall, a wonderful place to stay if you are looking to truly relax.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
We thought upgrading to full board was definitely a good deal but maybe not to all inclusive (you have to drink quite a bit to get your moneys worth).

The Komandoo was Heaven on Earth
We loved our stay at the Komandoo. Heaven on earth is how we describe it to our friends and family. It is a long journey from the United States, but worth it. Upon arrival into Male, guests of the Komandoo come to an air conditioned welcome center where you have drinks and cold towels to refresh from your journey. The seaplane takes about 35 minutes and then you are in paradise. The Komandoo is on a small island with only 65 guests rooms. You relax, relax, relax. It is great! The water is like bath water, yet refreshing. You can dive by walking off the beach and swimming briefly to amazing house reefs. You literally grab your snorkels and walk ten steps from your room and see amazing sea life just beyond the break. Visibility was great. The food was amazing. The service was fabulous. We could not have asked for anything more. You can easily upgrade to an all-inclusive which was worth it for us. We plan to visit again.
Traveler's tip
Definitely NOT a place to travel alone. Very couple-oriented and not very kid (even 12 years) accommodating (which is exactly why we picked it for our honeymoon).
