budget elegance
ixchel is definitely a bargain for the money but if i had to split hairs i would say the penthouse jacuzzi did not operate properly (more like an outdoor bathtub) and the AC would not stop running at any temp setting (e.g., the thermostat would read 60 degrees even if i set it to 76). that said, the beach view is amazing, the in-house restaurant has delicious food and the staff is friendly and accommodating. the bed is extremely firm, which worked for me, but might not be for everyone. i would definitely stay here again on a return trip.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
the hotel needs two hours notice to start the jacuzzi (if staying in a penthouse suite) so make sure you inform them upon arrival. they leave it on the whole time you’re there once they get it going, though.

Great Place Great Price
We booked a 1 bedroom suite. Great view of the pool and the water. Perfect location for my husband, daughter, and me. Will be going back next year.

Can’t wait to visit again this year!
The Ixchel Beach Hotel was wonderful. We had a penthouse room which was very spacious. The views were spectacular and the location was excellent. We will stay here again when returning to Isla Mujeres. The staff were all very courteous and friendly. The beach was beautiful - as well as the sunsets. Perfect location, perfect vacation!!!
