True Venetian flair and hospitality

We absolutely loved the Old World Venetian decor and architecture combined with the modern day luxuries of hot water, air contiditoning, satellite T.V., etc. The room was small, but standard to that of European hotels (not to mention this was a 100 plus year old mansion). Breakfast in the courtyard was not only excellent (don’t expect U.S. Pancake house) and romantic. The combination of fresh food, ambiance, and warm and excellent service made us feel like we were staying at a Venetian home. We would defenetly recommend this property.

Traveler's tip

Get a map and schedule of the water ferries and buy a 24-48 hr pass. This pass will allow you get to know Venice and it’s islands (a must to see), comfortably and economically, including taking you to the rail station and cruise ports!!!

Very Impressed

The staff was terrific, spoke English well and were very helpful. The location was perfect. The breakfast was also very good. Everyone there went out of their way to make our 25th anniversary memorable.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Wear comfortable shoes and walk everywhere. The water transportation is great, but to see Venice, you want to walk as many places as possible, even those that are a distance away -its worth it.

Noisy

Our room was right next to the busy walkway or street, and the walls were so thin you could hear every footstep and every voice speaking. I believe we would have been happy with the hotel if we had received a different room that was set more inside the hotel, away from the street. We didn’t get much rest because of all the noise, and this was in the quiet season- November!

Good Location

This hotel was a good choice for a moderately priced hotel in Venice. It was in a great location, easy to get to from water bus stop, and had a wonderful breakfast buffett.

Amazing hotel!

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Saturnia. It is less than a five minute walk to St. Marks Square and ten minutes to the Rialto Bridge. Great location with two vaporetto stops within 5minutes walking from the hotel so it is easy to transfer from railstation-vaporetto-hotel. Front desk was very helpful with coordination a gondola ride and also suggested a great place for dinner one night. They also exchange money for no fee, at the best rate I saw all over Europe. The breakfast buffet (induled in our stay) was also very good! Rooms and bathroom are HUGE and kept very clean! We cannot wait to go back!

Great experience at a great price!

Obviously hotel prices can change but we got this jewel at a great price and thus felt very satisfied that we got our money’s worth. It’s in a great part of Venice, very close to St. Mark’s and on an open, easy to find street (unlike the many nice hotels that are on cramped little alleys). The breakfast that was included was much nicer than we even expected and the whole ambiance was just perfect. Naturally, the rooms are sparse and the bed was a little hard by American standards but this is Europe and you have to expect that. On the brightside, the room and the bathroom was much much larger than we had anticipated and we didn’t have the problem of paper thing walls that so often accompany European hotels. The staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I believe I heard their consierge speaking at least 3 different languages fluently! Stay here and you won’t be disappointed.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The gondola rides can be very expensive. Instead, take the vaporetto down the Grand Canal and enjoy your ride under the cool cover of the canopy. This is especially helpful if you need to get to trainstation. It’s a great way to get there and still feel like you are sight seeing!

Fantastic location, very helpful staff, charming hotel!

We booked the Saturnia through Expedia and were expecting a "good" hotel but got a "GREAT" hotel in Venice. The location is perfect, a VERY short stroll to St. Marks Sq.. The hotel is absolutely charming, our room was large with a beautiful bathroom which was spotless. The hotel has a LOT of beautiful public rooms scattered through the building which are stunning. The full breakfast which was included was excellent and the staff at the hotel were so very helpful and charming. We booked a water taxi to the airport and were so happy to see that the Saturnia has a private water taxi lobby at the rear of the hotel. The boat pulls right up to the back of the hotel, the staff loads your bags and then you are off to the airport zipping through one of the MOST beautiful cities in the world. Our experience at the Saturnia was wonderful and we are already planning our return to the Saturnia.

Traveler's tip on dining

There is a wonderful coffee, cafe, snack shop very close to the hotel’s front door (just to the right of the hotel if you are standing at the front door looking out onto the street) which serves some wonderful coffee and lunch for a very reasonable price no tables just a snack bar. We stumbled upon it and were drawn to it as it was filled with gondoliers eating lunch. Also don’t miss the roof top terrace it offers a stunning view of the city and is beautifully furnished.

Excellent value

The hotel was in a perfect location to explore the city, the service was excellent, the room was large and comfortable and the breakfast was superb. The hotel offers an airport transfer service which is efficient and worthwhile for first time visitors. The concierge service and front desk was friendly and extremely helpful.

Traveler's tip on dining

Don’t eat anywhere close to a major tourist attraction or on a main thoroughfare. The food in those places is nasty and expensive and could easily give the impression that Venice does not have good food. To find real Venetian cooking walk down the narrow alleys and dive into the first place you see that looks as though it caters to locals and is not looking for tourists business. The food in these places is excellent.

Charming, Comfortable & Centrally Located - Good Value

Perfect for a romantic weekend. The hotel is reasonably priced and nicely located just a few minutes’ walk to San Marco. The decor is quaint, retaining the feel of old Venice without seeming run-down. Welcoming lobby. The room was small but comfortable enough for a short romantic stay. The hotel has a pleasant courtyard for enjoying breakfast. The concierge service is quite excellent, readily offering helpful recommendations and happily making any necessary arrangements. They were at all times warm and unpretentious while being entirely professional. In fact, the concierge service was probably the most pleasant I can recall experiencing, making the stay truly enjoyable. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel on my next visit (hopefully soon!) and would readily recommend it to others.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If on a brief visit, stay close to San Marco Square as there is much to see and enjoy there. Do sit in San Marco Square and enjoy the dueling orchestras while sipping a coffee or bellini and people watching. Gelato quality does vary and would recommend finding a quaint-looking shop or stand outside San Marco Square. The best food we enjoyed was at moderately priced, smaller restaurants (compared to quite expensive meals we also enjoyed). Shop Gondaliers for prices & routes before deciding.
