Busy resort hotel doesnt mix with generally very good private golf course
I was there on a very busy weekend. My assigned parking space was occupied by someone else and there was no real overflow parking so they assigned me to a space which happened to be open. The golf club extends playing privileges to guests which was why I was staying there, but the tee times are available later after members teed off at earlier tee times. Once on the course members moved out onto the course and jumped ahead to available openings and there was no monitoring provided or assistance to maintain pace of play. In an otherwise upscale and challenging golf complex, I was surprised to see this kind of activity my members but apparently there is not much attempt to see what is going on. The main practice facility had mats to hit from and clubs were limited to those from 8 iron to sand wedge. Practice balls seemed to include some with poor quality compression. The area was overrun with hotel guests who were non-golfers with many children poorly attended in this area. I am glad I got to see the course due to some review that had good things to say about the design and playability. But the resort doesnt mix with the type of golf course that was designed and either guests get shortchanged on golf or members get shortchanged on their membership. I cancelled my reservation at a companion property near Melbourne operating under a similar arrangement for resort guests to get on an otherwise upscale private course.
