Ideal location but . . .
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Time Square, the Theatre District, Central Park, and Grand Central Station. We hopped a cab to everywhere else. The room was huge, dark, and sparsely furnished (not to our liking -- it felt moody and sterile), but the bed was very comfy. The shower was horrible -- literally a dribble of water and we froze. Fortunately we Northwesterners are accustomed to conservation so we managed, but it was a challenge for my adult daughter to rinse her long, thick hair. Room service was negligible -- when we called to order, none of our choices were available so we opted for the bare minimum. Even still, it cost nearly $50 for the two of us! The front desk people were pleasant but not particularly helpful in stearing us to our destinations, even when we procured a map for them to use to help us. There was no concierge service at all. The business office computers/printers were very helpful to Google-search and print out web tickets, and the computers were available very late and very early. Helpful for someone traveling without a laptop. The only reason I would consider returning to this hotel is because of the price and the location.

Excellent location!
Despite reviews, Flatotel completely exceeded our expectations. Rooms are apartment-style and spacious. Everyone was extremely helpful. Location was great - close to Broadway, 5th Ave. Would definitely stay here again

Nice Hotel - Great Location!
Had a wonderful time at this hotel. They were able to accommodate our party of four with hotel rooms right next to each other. They had fresh fruit and coffee in the lobby every morning for a quick breakfast or snack on the go. Rooms were big, clean and contemporary. Location was absolutely fabulous - centrally located and within walking distance of everything!
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Bus tours are very worth it - you can see the city in two days and you get a bonus Circle Line trip around the Statue of Liberty included in the price ($21 value).
