GREAT STAY
WE WERE IN ST. MAARTEN THE FIRST OF NOVEMBER IT WAS A WONDERFUL VISIT. THE WESTIN POOL WAS VERY NICE AND WE HAD IT ALMOST TO OUR SELVES. THE BEACH IS BEATIFUL ALTHOUGH THE CURRENT IS STRONG IF YOU ARE A GOOD SWIMER IT’S FINE. TWO VERY GOOD RESTURANTS RIGHT DOWN THE BEACH AND OVER THE ROCKS (NOT A GOOD WALK AT NIGHT). THE BEST PART IS THE ISLAND A CAR IS A MUST. DRIVE TO OTHER BEACHES THERE ARE ALL TYPES. WE ENJOYED THE WESTIN FOR ITS SECLUDED LOCATION IN THE MORNINGS AND EXPLORED THE ISLAND IN THE AFTERNOON. IT WAS A GREAT TIME.

Loved St Maarten and the Westin.
We were very pleased with St Maarten and the Westin Hotel. We loved the location and the surrounding area of The Westin. It was so nice to be able to walk along the beach and go to Mr. Bugsby. The weather was great and we also met some very nice people at the pool. By the way, we thought all of the staff were extremely nice and very accomodating...especially William at the outside pool bar. We had a very enjoyable time and will definitely recommend this island and hotel to all friends and family. Hope to return soon!!
Traveler's tip on local attractions
We normally do not rent a car when we go to the islands. This time we did rent a Jeep because the driving rules and regulations were basically the same as in the US. Loved it!! We were able to see so much more of the island.I would definitely recommend renting a car for your stay. Oh yah, everyone MUST go to the Sunset Beach and watch the planes come in. It is amazing. We have never experienced this before and went back 3 times.

Best Hotel on the Dutch side
We have been vacationing in St Maarten for almost 25 years and this is the best hotel on the Dutch side. There is one very nice hotel on the French side but it is so old now and also very expensive. The Westin was fantastic. It was safe, clean, beautiful, and fun. We booked the special rate but were given a room upgrade b/c we booked thru Expedia. Our ocean front king was awesome. The rooms all have balconies or patios with outdoor furniture and they either view the ocean or a courtyard. Ours was very large as well as clean and comfortable. It was great and we would book it again for a short stay. If we stayed longer, we would book one of their condos next door so if you need more space or have more people, try that. The casino is small and not really what we expected. The pool is awesome and so is the beach here. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant but tried to eat at the poolside restaurant. We went at 4:55pm and the girl said closed at 5. She was pretty rude. There were taxis available to take you anywhere and we never had to wait. Also, I noticed what a nice clientele they had. The guests were all so friendly and seemed to really be enjoying their stay. We live in Florida and are used to hurricanes. If there were one in St Maarten, the Westin is where you want to be. Its rock solid!
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Rent a car if you stay here. This hotel is not close to the airport or anything else. If you are on vacation, you either have to stay on the property or take taxis everywhere which are expensive. It is best to rent a car. Also, they have no shuttle service to or from the airport or the ferry.
