great hotel for way less than others near there
The Hawthorn Suites offered a great quality room, with a kitchenette for about 1/2 what the Holiday Inn across the street was offering. Service was nice. Good continental breakfast and clean property and room. Will definitely go back!
While staying on the coastal bend, make a drive to Rockport Fulton for dinner at the Boiling Pot- you won’t be disappointed! It’s the best experience and restaurant I’ve found in Texas... been going back every year for the past 15+ years. Also, if you’re in Port Aransas, stop by Winston’s Candy store and check out their awesome selection of hard to find delecious sweets. Don’t forget to get a sample of "Good" while you’re there- it’s my favorite.

Impressed
We stayed for 7 nights. The hotel was clean and the hotel staff cleaned every day and provided extra clean towels at our request. There was a full kitchen and so we ate in the room for the most part. The breakfast served by the hostel was fine and the coffee was good. The last night we requested to be moved because they had a guest in the room above us and they were so noisy we could not sleep. That was somewhat frustrating to move everything for one night.

It is overall a nice place, but you cannot see the beach.
The room is clean, bed is nice, and I liked the walk-in shower. You cannot see the beach, it is too far from the beach, and not really across the street. The front desk told me there was a full breakfast, but there was just a small continental breakfast. He also told me we could check out two hours late at no additional cost, but the next front desk clerk told us it was $10 per hour. Based on the location and the hotel being so plain, the rate should be a lot less. I wanted a place in front of the beach and this definitely was not in front of the beach.
