Great Place to Stay in Luxor
Great location and a wonderful hotel. Garden is fantastic and the pool is great. The breakfast could be better, but the international hotel was excellent, although the service was slow. Great place to unwind after a tiring day at the ancient sites....

Piggy Backing on the Winter Palace Hotel
This is actually an annex of the Winter Palace Hotel so many of the photos are of its much grander big sister. The staff are extremely welcoming, and usually apologetic as most guests are understandably disaapointed when they see their rooms. The rooms are tired, carpets stained, paintwork patchy, but as can use the rest of the facilities I assume most people, like me, just suck it up and put it down to experience.

Wonderful grounds
The Pavillon is the newer wing behind the old winter palace. Had the junior suite which was plenty big for 2 adults and a child. Wonderful balcony overlooking the pool complex. Excellent shower. Next time we might try for a room in the old palace for a change but The Pavillon was perfectly fine. The Italian restaurant by the pool was pretty authentic (weve lived in Italy) and did not disappoint. Imported vino is very expensive throughout Egypt so try the local stuff first. Swimming pools throughout Eqypt close at dusk for chemical treating (why not 8-9 PM instead?) so make sure you get back from touring early enough if you have kids as no swim = big disappointment. Id stay away from the restaurant on the ground floor of the Pavillon, at least for breakfast. Wonderful thing is management took our comments to heart, comped the breakfast and made everything right. The food and beverage manager sought me out personally, apologized and offered a special breakfast in the restaurant in the old palace. That, to me, is very important -- how things are handled when something does go wrong. With the kid, we found our better breakfast option was McDs behind Luxor Temple (about 250M away). We will stay here again next time in Luxor.
