Holiday Inn
The hotel was centrally located - a plus; one can walk to everything. The downside is that there is not much to walk to, the downtown is a mess. Full bar that is very active. The restaurant is the only full service restaurant in downtown Muskegon. The dinner was average, the breakfast terrible -- I couldn’t even get whole milk for my cereal. If you want central, put up with the hotel and its restaurant. Good parking, free ice; the usual HI amenities.
Traveler's tip on dining
The only decent resto is about 10 km away. There is a diner, perhaps a 1 km walk, that serves a proper brekkie.

Worked out perfect
We were worried that we would not find a hotel to stay at after a long day at Michigan Adventure. We found the Holiday Inn and were impressed. The parking, check inn and all other aspects including the coolest bar around. the room was spotless and the one sight restaurant was perfect for breakfast on our way home.

skip the breakfast
The hotel was very busy but reasonably nice. However the breakfast buffet on Sunday was very poor quality and they did not allow ordering individual food items - very poor service as well.
