This was my 3rd stay at the Eton this year, each time I booked, I stayed a day or two longer each time. The Eton is a very nice hotel and if you don’t mind quick cab rides to the touristy areas, you are golden. Location does have it’s upside, not noisy or overly busy with typical Shanghai traffic. Also, getting to PVG is easy as well (35 minutes on most early mornings) about 160RMB ride. Personally, I like the Eton because of the monstrous bathtub in the Premier Rooms; it is a small pool. Great for romantic evenings. The place is clean and friendly. However I did not like the Chicago Steakhouse AT ALL. Overpriced and not that good. You can do much better for your money elsewhere. For such a nice Hotel their premier restaurant needs to be much better than the current. I did like the breakfast buffet they offer, plenty to choose from and not overly expensive. If you stay, get a Premier Room on one of the higher floors. Corner rooms, very big, giant bathroom and great views. You won’t be disappointed!! I haven’t been.

Fairly Standard for this class of Hotel

I stayed there because friends were already booked in, The Hotel was very nice, everything worked, concierge helpful, breakfast was the good standard in 4 / 5 star hotels Chinese / Western styles catered for, however for 120 rmb per person for breakfast (while it seems to be the going rate) I think is over priced, The Hotel itself was easy enough for taxis to find providing you had the phone number and rang the hotel for driver to speak, or a hotel card with the address on it, as with most hotels in Shanghai (as it is spreadout), it is not close to everything, but on a good note in one direction you have SHA Airport 25 mins, and in the other direction you have PVG Airport 40 mins, Another good thing was that the Hotel (as most can do these days) was able to organise a day trip to places of interest in the area, I can’t forget to mention the Bar attendant in the Lobby, was able to make a good cocktail, even when I asked for a variation,

Modern, clean, convenient and great location

I was only staying one night on a business trip and needed something fairly close to the Pudong airport. This hotel is still a 40 min. cab ride from the airport, but it’s in a very nice area and is very efficient. Shuttles take you to some good nearby attractions including the tallest building in the world (with a viewing platform). Service and amenities were very good. If I go back for pleasure, I’d stay here.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you want to sight see - check out the shuttle that runs from the hotel to other locations in the area. Air conditioned and avoids cabbing.

Best Business Hotel in Shanghai

This was my second stay at the hotel by choice - which itself says a lot about it’s quality. They have all the facilities a business traveler required under one roof - the best gym, heated pool, bars, restaurants - and right in the center of the city. Highly recommended!!

Great Hotel in a developing location

No major complaints about the hotel--fantastic room, great view, good service, very clean. Pudong, at least in this area, is one big construction zone at the moment (including the area around the Jin Mao Tower and the SWFC), so it’s not very walker-friendly. But there is a subway line right across the street from the hotel, and taxis are cheap. I will definitely stay here again.

Traveler's tip on dining

South Beauty, on the 10th floor of the Super Brand Mall, is a great place for dinner, and not too far from the hotel.

Very good value for the money

I stayed at the Eton for two nights during my last trip to Shanghai and was very pleased with the accommodations. The staff at the front desk and on the executive level were helpful and attentive to details and the rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. The only negative was the location. While I wanted to stay in the Pudong area, this hotel is located a fair distance from the central business district of Pudong. Overall, a good experience at a good price.

You have to stay here

The Hotel is very close to all of the attractions in Pudong, the service is very good, but if you are on a business trip don’t hesitate to stay on the executive floors, you’ll have free internet, breakfast, and all day long beverages and lounge service. and at an excellent rate!!! The only bad thing I found was that the carpet had too many stains.

Love the Eton

In a more rural location with not much walking around (this was old farm land), stands this oasis. Great place and staff. You actually can now walk around more....go across the street and buy a breakfast sandwich/burrito from the lady across the street by the train entrance. Incredible! She makes them on the round top. Buffet is very nice and the room is cool and comfy. I tell a travelers I know going to Shanghai.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Go to the Science Museum. Underneath is the knock-off market. Fun to see if you haven’t seen it before.

Pleasant stay

It was a pleasant stay. The Eton Hotel was as good as other reviewers said. Room was roomy with full view of the city (at least my room has). Customer service was good too. Only thing is that there was road construction going on the front of the hotel which I was told that it will last a couple of years at least. Oh, did I mention that hotel is right on the corner of subway line #4 which is ultra convinient.

Shanghai’s best

I have stayed at many hotels in Shanghai (including the Grand Hyatt), and I can honestly say that the Eton Hotel is #1 on my list. Service is excellent, rooms are spotless, breakfast on the Executive floor is delectable and the Happy Hours on the Executive floor are also pretty amazing. For all of this, the price is still very reasonable - especially when booking through Expedia.

Great Hotel

The Eaton Hotel Hong Kong is nice 4 star hotel. Everyone complains about how the small the rooms are, but you should only be in your room to sleep. Everyone should be out and about in Hong kong. If you want a bigger room get a suite they are nicer. The staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to help you. The hotel is in Kowloon island and is perfect for shopping and stepping out to eat anything you want. I would stay at the Eaton Hotel once again.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

If you want to do your own private tours and not get on a tour bus. Get a taxi from outside the hotel and they will take you to all the same spots just like a tour bus. It’s about the same price and it’s let crowded and private.

Eton _ Great Deal

this was my second stay at this hotel of my six trips to shanghai, great deal for such a luxury and cleanness. executive room that includes breakfast and internet and happy hour is actually perfect for business travelers.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

check out subway. during rush hours it beats cab ride by 10 folds unless you like sitting in traffic and inhaling exhaust. easy to use, cheap and on-time, and safe. for those who are looking for a western style bistro (from burgers to healthy wraps), blue frog behind the super brand mall is highly recommended.

Excellent Hotel! Only one issue.

The Eaton was excellent. I absolutely loved the interior design of the rooms. Views were very nice as well. Bed and furniture were comfortable. There was even a flat screen over the bathtub. My only complaint was the price of the internet access. At hotels of this caliber, I think that it should be complimentary. Other than that everything was wonderful. Well worth the money.

very impressed

The place understands the meaning of premium service and service with a smile. The entire staff understands the word "privacy" completely and does everything possible to make sure that you have a comfortable stay. Very clean and well designed rooms. Would definitely stay there if I visit again.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

The french concession is a great place to spend the evening and the acrobat show...worth viewing...the english yellow pages have 3-4 pages of english to chinese pronounciations...make sure you carry them with you..is quite a help...

Breathtaking...

Stayed in the hotel during the tennis master cup 2007. The hotel is in operation since last yr so everything is in excellent condition. The superior room (the most basic one) at 32 stories (the highest possible for that room type) is just great. The boutique style hotel has an excellent bathroom where one can soak in the bathtub while enjoy the programme on a lcd tv. The room comes with a classy glass writing table and a comfortable chair. The room has a nice fragrance and the bed which is super king size is soft and comfortable. One can have no complaints about the room and the service the hotel provides. The hotel is just opposite a metro station on line 4 (i think Pudian Avenue Station). The surroundings is pretty quiet so one has to take the metro for a few stops and change to metro line 2 to reach the main shopping attractions. Although the hotel’s location is not ideal for shoppers but it is certainly a great hotel to return to after a day of frantic shopping . Give yourself at least 2 days in the hotel to enjoy its swimming pool and gym which i have given a miss due to time constraint.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Asked for a high floor, facing the jin mao building, non-smoking room.

very nice international hotel in Shanghai

*I was leary about getting the right hotel through Expedia but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Eton Hotel matched exactly to what was advertised on the Expedia website. To be save though, before I left on the trip, I contacted the Hotel directly to ensure that they had my reservation as confirmed through Expedia. The nice thing was that when we checked in, we got upgraded to the Executive Floor. Not sure why, so don’t expect that it will be the case for your reservation. For me it’s all about a good, solid breakfast and the Eton Hotel Cafe delivered every morning. You have your choice of Asian buffet selection or Western buffet selection. Good, fresh fruit for November month. The only drawback is that the Cafe staff not all speak or understand English, so your patience might be tested slightly. It’s all about being aware that Shanghai, means Shanghai so you have to use your international skills of diplomacy and communication to ensure you are understood. With that said though, the staff is extremely friendly and eager to please. Rooms were immaculately clean. The shower options in the bathroom were great. I will go back to this hotel on my next stay.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

On a rainy day, it might be challenging getting a taxi at the hotel taxi qeue at 8:30am. My colleague and I waited in line for about 10min before giving up as the 7 people in front of us still did not get a taxi. So, we just darted for the Metro station (across the street from the hotel) and figured out public transportation.

Great Hotel in Shanghai

The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and the staff was wonderfully helpful. The concierge was most helpful, with both planning daily activities and assisting with planning a side trip to Beijing. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The only thing missing was free interent access. This was available at the coffee shop next door, which we started going to for breaskfast every morning.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

1. The coffee shop next door has great drinks, good sandwiches and FREE internet access. 2. When taking cabs, the staff, when asked, will tell you how long it should take and around how much it should cost. Always get the receipt and the trip can be disputed if you feel as though you have been taken for a ride. Also, there is a list of reasons you can refuse to pay for your cab on the divider between the front and back seats. We never had cause to refuse, but it is there.

Very impressed with The Eton Hotel

Brand new hotel that lives up to 4 star rating, something that is not automatic in China. Room was large, clean, and very well appointed. Bathroom was beautiful - jacuzzi tub, glass shower, flat screen TV. Close to new Shanghai World Financial Center and Jin Mao Tower.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Stations for Shangahi’s ever-growing Metro rail line are right accross the street from hotel - both the #2 (main East-West artery that will lead you to the People’s Square for connections to #1 line, Jing’an Temple, and the LongYang Road station that connects you to the Maglev train to the international airport) and the #4 line that is the new loop around the city.
