The Rimrock has superior service.
The hotel is lovely the basic rooms are just fine for the difference in price. We enjoyed the breakfast and found the waitstaff to be outstanding. It was fun to play cards, eat dinner, and have drinks in the very large front area of the hotel. The views are spectacular. We asked for a fire in the fireplace and instantly they were building it. The hotel shuttle takes you everywhere in town. Dont waste your money renting a car in Calgary. Take the shuttle and when you want to travel farther out just rent a car for the day.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Lake Louise is spectacular. The hike to the teahouse is not for the faint at heart 11km up and it is steep and rocky. The Fairmont there has a fabulous tea. When in Banff go to the grocery store and pick up lunch or snacks, food is terrific and prepared for hikers and travelers. The hot springs are literally next to the hotel but appear to be a large hot outdoor pool. Take the bus to the Fairmont (dont stay there- service is awful) the hotel is beautiful and the golf course unbelievable.

Very nice hotel
This was a very nice resort, nicer than we had anticipated. The staff was more than hospitable. My husband and I would absolutely return if we were going without the children. Not that the children would be unwelcome but it would not be where we would stay if we had them with. The location was great. It was on the outskirts of Banff, within walking distance to the the hot springs and the gondola. The public transportation was available to take us in to town. We absolutely loved the resort and would highly recommend it...especially for couples.
