too noisy
The rooms were so sparsely furnished (and very small), no carpeting in the hallways, no noise absorbing surfaces. We could hear every step taken in the hallway, doors being unlocked. We felt like we had to creep around and be quiet. Also the staff spoke very little English and could barely direct us to the train station.

Great Value
Really a typical European small hotel room; small shower and very firm beds. This a perfect vacation location however, not that well suited for tourism. Takes a long time to get places, but thats the Tuscan country side. We loved it, lake is three hundred yards away, with a nice little coffee/beer shack on its shores. Overall, was a super value...this is not a five star hotel, but you dont pay five star prices. Staff are very, very friendly, and very helpful.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Although Florence is only 21 miles away, it takes about an hour to get there. We booked a great little wine tour through the Travel Agent in Borge San Lorenzo. They can book tours throughout the region. Travel to Florence by train, probably the easiest way to get there. Somewhat difficult to find this hotel, road it was on wasnt even loaded in TomTom (which I highly recommend bringing with you). Dont plan on checking in early, as she generally didnt get there before four.

Stay Away from The Montellieri
Awful location - dirt road to reach it on top of a hill. To skimp on costs, they dont allow you to pick your breakfast from a buffet - despite free breakfast being included. Only place in Italy where I suffered this situation. Room was for 3 people, yet in reality, theres no way 3 could have stayed there. TV didnt work initially. Heat is turned off during the day in winter. Bathrooms awfully small, inadequate towels supplied. STAY AWAY !
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
This doesnt really save any bucks, especially being 40 KM away from Florence
