Exactly what I wanted.
This is not a swank resort. In some ways it’s a rundown throwback. But for me, it was perfect...exactly what I wanted. For one thing, the location is great...far away from larger cities, nestled into a hillside with excellent seaside access. The surroundings are beautiful, and the resort feels like a little world unto itself, removed from the rest of the world. Some reviewers have complained that there’s "nothing to do," which is, firstly, not true, and secondly, why such a bad thing? It is true that there are no touristy activities competing for your every moment, but the opportunities abound for horse rides overlooking a stunning bay, ATV treks back into mangroves and onto isolated beaches, endless hours by pools or on the beach, conversation with world travelers at one of the several open bars--I can’t imagine anyplace being better for getting out of the world at large and into a smaller, more manageable world of quieter, more relaxed pleasures. Nature, friendship, family, contemplation. If you’re looking for excitement 24-7, keep looking. But if your idea of vacation is an incredible change of scenery and the luxury of tranquility, you could do much worse than Luperon. Just don’t expect any luxury by the standard definition.

Not Bad
The resort scenery was beautiful. The bed’s werent to comfortable however. The food was pretty good with alot of variety. However, no one really speaks English. Only a small section of the beach was "swimable" because most of the beach was rocky. However, if you want a quick weekend getaway for not alot of money then it was satisfactory.

I will return
Nice quiet location, away from hustle and bustle of Puerto Plata. Get upgraded room. Good food including lobster one nite. Staff friendly and helpful. Some timeshare people wanting to sell, I just told them to leave me alone. They did. Room A/C good, bed was lumpy. Furnishings in room old, but in good service. Room a bit dark.
