Great place to stay

We love staying at the Hotel Abri. It’s an updated classic - absolutley lovely rooms, friendly staff, great location. Can’t wait to go back!

everything about the room was great! the only complaint was the size of the room... it was a little pokey. everything else was fantastic though. the bed was comfy, close to everything SF city, staff were really helpful and nick in the bar downstairs poured a mean drink and had my wife and i entertained.... we will be back for sure!

Nice place to stay if you are on a budget

Stayed at the Hotel Abri only 1 night for a conference. The rooms are small and has that old smell when you first enter. We were made to choose between a room with a view or a quiet one and we choose the one with a view but it was really nothing. Choose the quiet side since it can get really noisy if you are by the side of Ellis St . The plus side is that they offer free wifi and the hotel is really close to the shop,Westfield mall and a lot of stores are just around the corner. The price we paid for the stay was really reasonable compared to other places aound the area. They also have really nice beds and toiletries were L’Occitane.

Surprisingly Nice

Great location, very nice rooms, large (2 rooms), quiet, and quality coffee in the AM. Next door is a great restaurant -- terrific appetizers and not too expensive. Overall -- very pleasant surprise.

Beautiful

We loved the mix of modern furnishings with old crown molding and doors. It was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in (including my own at home). Helpful staff. Loved the clock radio with iPod docking station and the sizable shower. If I had been there on business I would have been impressed with the ample desk space. Within walking distance of lots of great places. Parking a bit pricey, but not unheard of in San Francisco.

The hotel recommends a place called Brenda’s French Soul Food for breakfast if you don’t mind a walk. It’s delicious. Just remember you’re walking through the Tenderloin--not the safest neighborhood--and sign up on the clip board on the door don’t wait for them to come out and take your name. Don’t worry about the wait--it’s pretty tasty. Try the gumbo and/or the grits.

Fabulous Service

The hotel is fine, though nothing spectacular about its structure. On the other hand, the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. I stayed for four days and felt like I got to know a couple of them. They helped us heat up our baby food, played with the kids, gave us useful tips about where to eat and visit nearby. Also, it is an amazingly convenient location. Tons of great restaurants all around.

I loved The Old Siam, a Thai place that is fairly inexpensive and tastes great. Only about a block and a half away.

terrific base of operations

I found Abri to be an excellent value: a comfortable boutique hotel close to everything, with free wi-fi and luxurious bed linens. Everyone was terrifically helpful and cheerful--there was a great attitude among the entire staff. My first room was small with a King-size bed dominating the room. I asked to be moved after a day or two and they showed me a number of other available rooms and let me pick. I would definitely go back there.

Excellent stay

Enjoyed our stay and would go back again. The Staff was excellent, Ed, Hilary and Wilfren were most helpful when it came to our needs.

Rooms are small, and will fit most parties of 3 comfortably, but will squeeze in four at a pinch. Conveniently located for shopping and transportation.

Convenient and great service

We spent 7 nights at the Hotel Abri in July. The location was excellent and allowed us to move around both on foot and via public transport. Although the room was somewhat small, we enjoyed ourselves there. The staff was extremely helpful and pointed us to several good places for food. They were also great at helping us find the best way to our destinations.

The bell team seems to have good instincts for the local restaurants. We were guided to a fantastic burger place when we were looking for a simple meal.

It was wonderful!

Great location for BART and shopping.....and the most comfortable bed ever! The shower was great and the soaps were wonderful along with the comfy bathrobes...... Would love to stay here again next year.

Had just stayed at resort in San Jose. Room a little small. Would Like a bathtub. just had a shower. Nice King bed. Nice Ipod doc. Great staff. Great location. Would stay again if I got the same low rate.

Great location, great value

This hotel is a block from Union Square. We stayed for 9 nights. The room was clean, quiet and very comfortable. Food is so expensive in San Francisco, we were very happy to have an in room refrigerator. If you want a quiet room ask for an interior room - no view but peaceful sleep. My only gripes were that the water in the shower was either too hot or too cold - no happy medium. I wound up washing my hair in the sink and running the hot water in the sink when I took a shower (then was no bath tub). Also, most days the housekeepers seemed to forget to replenish something such as shampoo, tissues or wash clothes. The front desk always corrected the situation immediately.

Very nice hotel. Would definitely stay there again. Nice central location. Clean and friendly. Rooms are not large....but we didn’t come to SF to stay in our room.

Would not go back

We would not recommend this hotel to anybody. Our room smelled funny upon check in and housekeeping never came to clean our room the next day. In my mothers room you could hear the elevators all night long. The club across the street caused a lot of screaming around 4 am which woke us up. The front staff was really bad at directions and helping in cab services. Upon check out they only brought up one of our cars and forgot to bring up the other car. When we asked about the wear about of our other car they just told us they where busy. It took almost an hour for my mother to receive her car. This hotel needs a lot of work.

Close to everything

One block from the Bart station, a direct shoot from the airport. Getting around the city was easy from this point. The hotel was remodeled in a moderate fashion but very clean and nice. great value.

Location,location...

I am always looking for the most convenient location and in San Francisco i had a big choice around Union Square.I feel lucky that i decided on The Abri.The room was small but well apointed.The bed made for a very good night sleep,the welcome kitt in the bathroom by l’Occitane made me discover the best body cream ever ( verbena ).For a long stay the room will have been a too small,but for an overnight it was perfect.The hotel don’t has a breakfast room but will give you a list of neirby places.Their restaurant is only open for lunch and diner and can be skiped.
