I wont choose a star over this one!!!
This was my first time traveling anywhere in the world and it was the best experience. Room service was about the same cost as taking a taxi out to eat...so the pricing was very reasonable. The location is very close to the mall of Asia, the manila air port, US embassy, and a few other small malls. The hotel itself was very clean with very responsive bag handlers, room service, and house keeping. Security was AMAZING; there was at least 3 armed guards in the front with a German Shepard and metal detector, a few more guards inside, and a dead bolt + latch for added security in your room. The only complaint I had was the poverty around the building. I felt really bad for them but I also felt a little unsafe leaving the hotel grounds.
Room service in this hotel is more worth it than traveling to mall of Asia to get food, unless you buy groceries there and make your own cold food or instant noodles. Another money saving tip is to avoid the jeep/van type taxis as well as the yellow taxis.....The white taxis are the best. If its not a white car-type taxi then most likely your going to get over charged. Cashing travelers checks in the hotel isnt bad and it doesnt cost nearly as much as the airport.

Outstanding hotel. Right on the waterfront with easy access to anywhere. Superb facility and extraordinary service all at a great price.

Very Good, But...
This hotel is one of the most comfortable and managed hotels in manila. The restaurant is a pleasurable experience I would recommend. The only complaint is you cant get out and walk to any place very easily. If you are staying in manila and you dont want to walk easily, I would stay here.
Traveler's tip on dining

There was a tendency to overcharge
The overall service was good; the workers were very courteous (I was impressed with this). But I caught them overcharging me: charging 5,600 pesos for a phone call that lasted five minutes. They reduced it to 750 pesos upon my protest, and after interviewing the worker I spoke to. And the food (though, good) was very, very expensive. I personally think they overcharged me. Apart from this, my stay was OK.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
When youre in Manila try to be careful. Please dont be led astray by guys offering to take you to fun places. Follow the beaten track. Its better to let the Avis drivers take you around. I found that the drivers were very helpful--especially one named Ernesto.

Very nice hotel
The hotel staff was very nice at all levels, the room was clean and comfortable, I ask for a non smoking room and was put in a smoking room. The floor had a lot of cigarette burns in the carpet, the TV didnt work very good, otherwise the room was okay

A Fine Place Close To Manila Bay
The best attribute of the Manila Traders Hotel is to be close to the famous Manila bay, whose sunsets are legendary, and rightfully so. It is also right in front of the Manila Cultural Center which was offering a remarkable cinema festival at the time of my stay, which proved very convenient. The coconut palace, one of Imelda Marcos freaky, wasteful creations, is at a walking distance as well. The hotel itself is a quite a standard one. The bar and coffee shops are pleasant locations where to spend time at leisure. The coffee shop offers internet services with their own computers. The staff is friendly and the prices reasonable. The hotel room could have been better kept. The breakfast restaurant is standard as well. A good experience overall.

I would stay there again
The room needed reinovations, (new carpets and paint, etc.)
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Ideal location for local attractions; museum, cultral center, bay walk, mall of asia, and other places of interest.

Close to bayshore and the Cultural Center.
On my first night my room assigned to me reeked of cigarette smoke even though I specifially asked for a non-smoking room. The next day I could smell the tobacco odor on my pyjama.
