An excellent location and great friendly service
They held a banner up saying "thank you" as we got into the taxi to leave. Right upto the end this Ryokan expemplified everything that one expects when one hears of Japanese service. the room was clean and specious, the breakfast great and the walking distance to Gion given that it was Gion matsuri was convenient. Next time I am in Kyoto, I know where I will stay.

Live as the Japanese do...
A fantastic opportunity to live as the Japanese do. Amazing breakfast and service. Bike rentals right there at the Ryokan. Good location. Highly recommend a stay here.

new for us
The hotel (for us) was a unique experience - our first "Japanese" inn. Very different from western hotels. Excellent service, spotlessly clean. Only one minor problem - knowledge of Japanese would be a major plus.
