very accommodating
This Super 8 staff was very nice, and responded quickly to our shower draining slowly. We had no issues with it the rest of our stay. Our room was non-smoking, but on the second night a smoking room was rented adjacent to our bathroom, and when we returned later that night our room smelled like smoke. It was emanating from the bathroom vent, so we closed the bathroom door to keep the smell localized to the bathroom--kind of odd, but when you aren’t used to tobacco smoke, I guess you become more sensitive to it. I’d suggest looking into the venting system to see if there’s a better and inexpensive way to isolate them from this cross contamination. This did not ruin our stay, but would be a concern for future bookings.

Good, basic long-haul travelling hotel
Friendly staff with a good continental breakfast. Location is good in that you are very close to Hickory, NC, without any of the traffic; quiet spot easy to get to from the Interstate. Rooms are pretty basic but clean; building is 1980s-era, so there are signs of wear and tear on the building, but seems to be well-maintained given its age. Lots of TV channels and a grocery store within walking distance.
Traveler's tip
Tap water was not stellar. Not sure if this is because it was well water, piping, or just a taste peculiar to Hickory, but although I am ordinarily a tap water fan, I wasn’t this time.
