It was very unique and beautiful

One thing I was not expecting was the cost of valet parking or parking in general. It was $20.00 a day for valet + tips, or 10.00 each time to park your car. That was crazy! Other than that, it was beautiful.

Best Hotel Downtown

Top notch hotel in Downtown Oklahoma City. Old hotel, tons of character, has been completely remodeled, tons of character, very comfortable beds, outstanding staff. This hotel is very close to Bricktown, walking distance and the hotel will also shuttle you to Bricktown.

OKC - A Hidden Treasure

Friends and I took the Amtrak train from Fort Worth, TX, to OKC the weekend of October 23-25. We had a wonderful time. The train ride is so relaxing! I would recommend it 100% for a short weekend trip. The Skirvin Hilton is a short walk from the Amtrak station in downtown OKC. It is a beautiful hotel, with a lot of "old-world" charm. However, the rooms have been remodeled and they are very beautiful. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are large and well appointed. We enjoyed the bar both evenings and had breakfast in the restaurant Saturday morning. The food was very good! The OKC Memorial was well worth the trip. The site is overwhelming, but it is great to see that the city has turned a tragedy into triumph. The museum adjacent to the memorial site is a wonderful experience. The art museum, just blocks away from the memorial, is also fantastic! The permanent Dale Chihuly exhibit is worth the trip in and of itself! The people of OKC are friendly and go out of their way to help. We were even given a free ride on a city bus the final block as we walked from the hotel to the memorial site. Just one example of how nice the folks of the city are. I would return in a heartbeat! I would recommend the city...AND this hotel...to anyone traveling to OKC in the future.

Nice old hotel

The hotel was really nice, since it’s pretty old. I wasn’t very happy with room service one day because they brought me cold soup with room service! But overall it was a nice stay. The rooms are nice and relatively comfortable.

Front Desk Warns That Valuables Can Be Stolen

Yikes! All was well while checking in until 7 minutes into the process when the front desk kid suggested we not store valuables in our vehicle that they wee valet parking...well, of course but WHY worry the guests? We didn’t say we were going to leave valuables in the car and when we asked why the concern - he didn’t say a thing nor apologize for the odd comment. Be that as it may, we left the car totally empty (per usual) on road trips) but did discover that night that a watch - not very expensive was left in console (black watch in black box in console) and, of course, it was missing...or I should say IS missing. Sadly, their concern to this matter the following morning was pretty robotic. Our fault; we were "warned" - great way to be welcomed to a hotel with a warning instead of a welcome. Aside from that we loved so many things about this place. Even the prices of wine and appetizers in gorgeous lobby bar were off the charts.

Good Time

Very friendly staff, great bar, close to everything we needed downtown. Could have used more "munchies" in their little shop, people get hungry after bars close.

From the valets to the room itself this hotel is definetly a 10

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The staff, restaurant, and the hotel couldn’t have been better. We will definetely stay at the Skirvin again.

Traveler's tip on dining

The Cattlemens restaurant was the best steak I have ever had. Worth the trip.

Walking distance to everything - great!

Everything is up to date in this hotel from the flat screen TV to the coffee pot. The beds were comfy and plenty of towels were provided.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The hotel is conveniently just a couple of blocks in any direction from the convention centers, the Natiohnal OK City Memorial, Bricktown, plenty of restaurants in all price ranges, and the AMTRAK station

Very Pleased

We were very pleased with our stay at the Skirvin. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Valet service was quick. Room service was on time, hot and accurate. The room service servers were very nice and thoughtful. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Cute

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for just one night just to get away and party in downtown Oklahoma city. The stay was pretty nice. The only complaint I had was that the "heated" pool was not " heated" and a little on the small side for a Hilton. Other than that room was cute.

Very impressed!

Great hotel. We will definitely visit again. Please warn people that a 15% tip is automatically added to the food and beverage bill. We tipped 20% and the 15% was added after that. They did straightened it out.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Beware of 15% tip automatically added to food and beverage bill.

Noisy

The rooms are nicely appointed but there are some noise and security problems. We were twice checked into a room that ALREADY HAD PEOPLE IN THEM. Fortunately we heard the TV on in the first one and knocked. The second we walked right in and there was no occupants but the suitcases were there. The second big problem is the ductwork that connects the rooms. This is basically like having a door cracked between you and the next room. In our case the people next door stayed up until 4 am. We could hear their conversations and they were talking in normal levels. We complained about this the next day and the gal at the desk just said "that’s something people complain about sometimes" We won’t go back.

Elegant

Very elegant/historic hotel. Top notch service and condition. However, the piano bar is too small and we were unable to sit in the bar. The beds were too soft for us. We did not sleep well because of that. The room was perfect, other than the soft bed. But , if you like soft beds, this is the place!

Awesome!

Great place to stay! Convenient to Bricktown and all activity centers there. The one comment I would make is that in other 4 star hotels we have stayed at, breakfast was included (OMNI, San Antonio for one).

Traveler's tip

All of the above!!!

Beautiful Hotel, Very Noisy

I booked a hotel room for a weekend getaway with my daughter. The room and hotel were beautiful, very clean, excellent view. The unfortunate part was we were right next to a suite that had a wedding party in it. There was a whole group of people who were laughing and drinking until after 4am. Called hotel security around three but nothing was done about the noise. It is an old hotel and the noise and conversations carry through the ventilation system. When I spoke to the desk about the experience the next morning they told me sorry and offered me a free breakfast buffet. We declined, just wanted to get home...

Great place if you can afford it

Room service was extremely fast. Dinner at restaurant was great, a bit pricey though. Hotel Bar is a swanky little place.

Beautiful, restored hotel right in the middle of the city!!!

This was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in! The staff were all friendly and top notch, the condition of the hotel was excellent, and it’s located 1/2 way between the Memorial and the Bricktown entertainment district. It’s a 1920’s brick building that’s been completely restored and looks amazing - everything is well within walking distance. My only complaint is that they have lights that light up the hotel from the outside at night (and of course the building looks amazing), but they were shining right into my room, so if I didn’t tightly close the shades, I would have had a hard time sleeping. A room located higher than the 10’th floor would probably be ideal. Otherwise I had no problems!!!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The memorial is powerful, moving - worth seeing if you’re in the city. Take the museum tour across the street as well. Warning - there’s a part in the museum where they play a recording of the blast - if this is something you would rather not hear let the attendant know before you enter.

Enjoyable stay

Overall quality and cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. There were a few issues; 1.Speed of housekeeping was marginal. 2.Staff could not recommend a place to eat breakfast around the hotel. 3.Had one incident of no one answering the valet parking phone. 4.Had one incident of a rude front desk person who could not answer our question and cold transferred us to someone else on staff.

Nice Hotel

Clean, well staffed, centrally located in OKC, a bit "pricey" but worth it.

Can’t wait to go back

We were in town for OU’s graduation. All of the hotels in Norman were full so we decided to try the Skirvin. I was not disappointed, the service was excellent and the room was clean and very comfortable. We ate breakfast in their dining room, good food but expensive for breakfast. Great service all around was provided to us, also the staff was very friendly.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

If you have a chance be sure to visit Bricktown. We went to Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar - great food and good entertainment.

Absolutely beautiful!

My sister and I were trying to find a hotel close to Bricktown and this particular one caught our eye when we were booking. But nothing would have prepared us for this historic beauty! It’s absolutely stunning inside and out. You should walk in and see the lobby even if you don’t stay. And it is within walking distance of the Oklahoma City Memorial and Bricktown. Great location!
